I think we need to know some more informatiom. How many miles does your car have? What is your compression? what type of turbo is it? What do you want your car for? track, autox, street. It is not that hard to put together a low psi turbo kit. it all depends on how much mechanical skill you have. You will need several thing for a basic turbo kit. First a turbo, for the ka you are going to need atleast a t3 turbo. Next you are going to need exhust manifold. You can buy one already made or have a custom one made. Down pipe to connect turbo to the exhust. Intercooler if you want one, also need custom intercooler pipes. Some way to control boost, you want some gauges to monitor your oil temp, boost, air/fuel. also need oil lines for the turbo, which requires you to drill the oil pan for the return oil line. that is basicly what is needed for a low psi turbo. if you want more boost then you need to upgrade you fuel system, need to rebuild the internals of engine. the cost depends on what you want out of this turbo. You can put together a junkayard tubo kit for about $1000 and it will be good for low psi. or you can buy a kit for about $2000-$3000. hope this has helped.

miles dont really matter it has more to do with compresion. I would turbo it and boost till it blows then get a newer ka that has been rebuilt.

Hope this helps. A turbo'd '89 240 w/ KA24E.

http://www.**********/links/installs/turbo240/240sx.htm

With 7.5 boost, it ran 13.71@107.9mph

I emailed the tuner and they told me the complete kit from them is CAD$6000 and up. That's about US$4500-up. The high price is probably due to the kit is still a custom-made one and not produced in large quantity yet, or something else I donno.

Anyway, Good luck, man!

UPDATE for my last post.

The tuner (RaceTech) updated their website. They don't offer the kit to public at all.

Too bad..... they could've made lots of money by offering a kit...

honestly

why would you want to spend $4500 on a turbo kit for the ka24e when you could get an already turbo'd sr20det for $2500-3000 or less if your lucky and get more reliable and better power?
Just my $.02

your 2 cents make alot of sense very good point,if you buy an sr from heavythrottle it will come out to 2800 including shipping, and add some broken parts that might go,intercooler and other goodies and ur at 4500 with about 260 hp or more

yea that was pretty much my train of thought. i mean why spend that kind of money on a n/a motor thats not built for boost when you could get one thats already build for some real psi and with a lil more work serious power!

Josh

$4500... man take a look at the import-autoperformance.com kit, I've been running it and its been running well.

As for swapping out the KA motors for a used motor.... thank you I'll take that "truck" engine, it does quite nicely.... You have no idea what you are missing out on.

Good points.
At the moment, and this changes all the time, I'm leaning more
towards boosting the KA since parts are cheap and easily found.

It makes a great learning project as well.

And, after getting pulled over and sent to an inspection, you won't be s**tting bricks.
