To turbo a Single Cam KA24E motor or not to??

I have a KA24E motor that I was considering Turbocharging. It's got 100K flat on the motor. Runs strong.. Is it worth it? If so, how much boost will I be able to run?

Thanks!

check compression, SOHC is the shiznit

if its really in good condition, with good tuning you should have no problem running 7-10psi daily.

damn i was thinking the of doing the same thing but it would have to be all custom work so i was thinking of swaping the head for the DE but i really love my KA24E and plus this place realnissan. com they are not up anymore but they had a turbo'd SHOC running 9's but the again it was in a toyota starlett (SP) but if you find any turbo kits please post them

No there is a company out there make a turbo kit for the SOHC. It's just a different turbo manifold. Search for it.

* Does it have flat top pistons??? Early 88 production. If so it will be a little harder to tune and you probably won't run as high a boost.
Also What shape is you engine in? Do you really think it can take it. My SOHC is gonna die soon. Leaking freeze plugs, Low compression, Leaking transmission. If I was to turbo Mine It would blow up on first crank.

I dont know anything about the KA24E engine, but i know that all 180sx (240sx) that get imported to australia either have CA18DET or SR20DET engines.

I have a CA18DET and it is awesome! Not too sure on the specs for the KA (so i prob dont know what im talking about), but instead of turbo-ing a N/A engine, swap the motor.

I'll have a look see on the net about the KA, see whats best for ya

if your engine is running strong go for it, and if not save up a lil more chedda and rebiuld it then turbo, also with the second one stronger internals more boost (Yippy) lol.... but anyway stay with the SOHC cause you can beat it MAD low end torque and a turbo for the high=Match made in heaven lol.. not quite but it is still crunk but then there are going to be the people that say it is less tunable(SP) but it just takes a lil bit more to tune it but in the end it will be a monster all i need is my manifold then that is what i am going to get

Sorry I just reread my post and noticed I wrote something wrong. I meant:

No, It is not a custom job. I saw a site posted on the forum that makes manifolds for the SOHC.

Search and you will find. http://www.jspec.com/classfields.html
