my stock sr20det is running 11.47 boost???

It is running this and i dont see anything that is after market???
Maybe Actuator???
Any ideas and it sounds as if im getting over boost.... Like turbo is past what it can handle and dumps the extra out after full throttle.. ITs hella fast but i dont want to go booom!!!
How do i lower boost??
Boost controller? OR find out why its boosting high and lower that some how?
I run 100 octane and 91 mixed 50% = 95... wich is minimum a sr20 should run no mater what people tell you.. THe ECU fixs pining but you should run at least 95... RON....

HELP!!!
thanks..
jeff

Do you have a 3" exhaust? It will raise stock boost to around 1Opsi.

Boost controller won't help you. You need to fix the problem. And BTW, assuming you live in the US, what you buy at the pump is not RON, it's AKI. 95 RON = 91 AKI. You're wasting money.

RealY? I have been trying to find that research on Ron and AKI.. Were did you find that? ANd running @12psi you better hope you run 95.5 octane here in the US or else youll fk up your motor..
Its not wasting your money its wasting your motor...

I looked up the AKI and RON conversion online years ago when I was thinking of putting a Silvertop 4AGE in a AE102. That engine requires 100 RON which equals out to about 93-94 AKI. I always just put 93 in my SR, was running bout 11 psi on a stock side mount for almost 2 years with no problems, dyno proven, car ran perfect with that boost/octane/setup.

Thats good info thanks. I have been reading a lot about lowering boost and getting more cold air into turbo. I know it works because i have seen it. Im going to look into that. It would be nice to run 5psi and still run like 12 psi...
AV gas is the big secrete though. It has little lead that protects the valves, rods, and pistons and its 100 and its safe i have ran it...IT is almost the same price as 91 right now... $3.79 wich is up it should be under $3.00
thanks

I honestly never thought about running that. I know the lead will ruin your cat and o2 sensor, but a quick search turned this up: http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/upload/sh...oto=nextnewest
I'm kinda interested in finding out what the effects would be on internals, but I'm never gonna use it (My car's mpg's are ****ty enough) and I'm lazy so....

Yeah, I wish! At the most, I have seen about 8psi, sometimes almost 9 with my intake, Downpipe, cat delete, and exhaust (all exhaust components are 3").

And going with what everyone else says, I would check your actuator. Your motor and turbo will be alright handling that kind of boost, so go with it and make sure you keep up on routine maintenance.

Please stop spewing misinformation online

93-94 octane is suffecient enough for 18-20 psi on a properly tuned SR...some companies like Jim Wolf, also offer their programs in a CA style (for those with 91 octane) and another program for the rest of us.
