how much boost on a stock sr20
I have been a fan of silvias for quite some time, but never got into one. i own a 400+ hp 1992 eclipse gsx and decided to buy a 240 about a month ago. i found a 1990 for cheap money and picked it up and had it towed to a shop owned by a friend. (i still have never driven a 240 even though i work at a dealership and sell cars. i drive over a thousand different cars every year!!!) the following day i ordered my s13 sr20. the swap is almost done. The other mods i ordered include an hks front mount intercooler, greddy type s BOV, boost guage, Boost controller, and custom high flow exhaust. I am unsure as to how much boost i can run with my setup. also if there are any tidbits of information that are essential that i should know please let me know. My primary question is how much boost i can SAFELY run on 93 octane with my setup and how much the stock boost is. also how strong are these motors under constant abuse(meaning driftracing or autocrossing.) I am used to dragracing where my car is only abused for about 12 seconds(hopefully less!!!) thank you for your help...

-Stock boost should be around 7psi
-You can go up to 12-14 PSI safetly on stock turbo, if you upgrade turbo and injectors and fuel pump (if you havent all ready) and other lil tid bits and tuneing you can run up to 20HP SAFETLY on stock internals.
-These engines are pretty strong and can take quite a beating, if taken care of right. Remember, it is a JDM used engine and you dont know at all how the person before you took care of the engine or how much he/she ran it.
-Spec v rims should be able to fit, if they are 4X114.3 0k..but since its a FWD car the offset might be off a lil

wtf are you doing with a nissan when you have your 400hp dsm lol jk
ok stock boost is 7psi..take out the stock boost controller it should bump it up another psi or so...DOPE but i jus read you have a boost controller...
basically you can run a bar of boost for track use and stuff but just keep it around 10-11 psi daily driven...

How strong is the stock t25 on these things. how many more miles can i expect to get out of it at around 10-14 psi on a daily basis and also how much whp can i expect on daily driveable conditions. also since you guys have this same motor, is it reliable?? i am so sick of driving a dsm that breaks every day!

The SR is extremely durable. I run my car hard whenever I take it out. Right now I'm at around 14lbs. everyday. As for the stock turbo, it can handle up to 17psi. But I wouldn't suggest doing that all the time. After 17psi. the turbo loses its efiiciency. At 17psi. the injectors are pretty much at full duty cycle, and anything more would require larger injectors.
The side mount is good up until around 13psi. 14psi. on a nice cold night. I'm running my SMIC right now with no problems. The car pulls real strong.

Yeah chris i know what your talking about with the dsm. One of my close friends has a 96 spider gst that he has nothing but problems. hes pushing 300 hp on stock internals and stock turbo which he has it boosting like 12-15 PSI so that could also be his problem. Hes starting to get the same idea as you Screw DSM...lol. Im trying to talk him in to selling it for a 240.
