high HP how too???
after purchasing an SR for my s14. I plan to do most of the bolt on upgrade needed to produce high HP. what is the best way to do this. I know the engine itself can handle it tuned properlly. what does everyone suggest as far as which parts and upgrades to do. I know I can just ask the shop doing everything for me. but I figured I would ask to find out from 240 enthusiest on the boards first. thanks for the info, MIKE

I've got to agree with Romeyo. Do some research, but most high hp cars have similar setups, exhaust, FMIC, bigger turbo, more boost, more fuel and depending on your desired hp, built internals, and a GOOD ecu. Tuning is the only way to get peak power out of your motor. Good Luck keep posting woth results.

First thing you need to consider... is what you plan on using the car for..? Is this your daily driver? If so, you need to realize that anything over 400whp or so, isn't very streetable.. and reliability goes down a lot after that point. With that in mind, here's what I would recommend..
Garrett GT30R turbocharger (.63 A/R exhaust)
Log manifold (if you can swing it, a custom tubular piece)
3" downpipe and exhaust
Tial 38mm wastegate (minimum)
2" external dump tube
Stainless oil feed and drain lines
Billet water line fittings and hoses for turbo
72lb MSD injectors
Top mount fuel rail and lines/fittings
Z32 MAF sensor
ROM tuned ECU (Scott Avoy or JWT)
TopSpeed intake manifold
HKS 264* Step 1 cams
Greddy Profec B Spec II
Greddy front mount intercooler kit and piping
Custom hot-pipe
Greddy Type S blow off valve
4" inlet pipe and filter
Couplers to run blow through MAF on cold pipe
Walbro 255lph fuel pump
Aeromotive FPR
That should do it.. This will give you a turbo that spools rather quickly, and can give you right at 500whp, if you need it. On pump gas, at 17-18psi, you will see 400-420whp with the exact above mentioned setup.

and there you have it travis ,your repsonse helps me alot to consider what I plan to do. I am having a local shop do all the work. he also gave me some ideas on what I could do. it will be a daily driver so I think I am going to go for about 350hp. on a daily but if I need to I can up the boost a little. but thanks for your input. right now I am working on suspension first to handle all the extra zoom. then I am getting brakes and rims and tires. maybe body kit. once I have the body the way I want, after it's painted then the engine goes in. I have a while before the engine is done. I just basically wanted some suggestions.
thanks for the input.

The best advice anyone could ever give you on this subject is go to a local racing event and start chatting it up with the old fogies. If you get a nice guy (that won't bash imports) maybe you could ask him a few questions. But make sure he's credible, by that I mean make sure his car is in the event and respectable. My pops taught me everything I know about cars and everything I've learned from muscle cars have translated over to imports. It's nice to go to a track the week after someone was trashing your "riceburner" and make him eat his words. Good luck, you have a long way to go.
