decisions

summer is almost here and i'll have about 3500 to go turbo..
right now i have a s14 automatic with 68,000 miles on it.

so what should i do? go ka-t or sr20? if i go ka-t that means..

manual swap,
boostdesigns stage 1 kit (comes with a t3/t4)
walbro fuel pump,
370cc injectors,
SAFC2..
stock internals

i'll be boosting 8psi at most..

if i go sr20.. should i get a front clip or just the motor alone? i'm not going to be boosting that much higher than stock with it. i dont plan to upgrade the turbo or anything.. just a fmic and bov and walbro fuel pump.

i'll be autocrossing also.. so which is better for autocrossing?

i dont really want to follow the sr20 crowd but if its more efficient and better for autocrossing.. i guess i'll have to go that way.

thanks

If your going to autocross, there are more important things than the engine i.e. suspension, brakes, etc. Use that money for coilovers and z32 brakes all around THEN move on to the engine. As far as KA v. SR its only prefence they both have their high points and low points. SR revs and has power up high and KA is a torque machine.

yeah if you dont plan on boosting high anyways then why spend the money on a whole other engine unless you already have high high miles when the ka's are a great platform for boosting. Then to cut cost again instead of buying a turbo kit off a company get some friend together and piece one together yourself for over half the cost. If you only have $3500 to work with, and you are wanting a manual then you are going to need to get one for the SR20 as well. that swap is going to cost you quite a bit because i'm asuming that if you cant put a turbo kit together then you prob cant do the swap yourself either? So i'm not trying to be a dick but i just think the cheaper way to go would be the KA by far. Thats my 2 cents!
