Ca18det?

What car did this come in? I have heard of the motor, but have no clue what it came in. plus anyone know the stock power ratings on it. I saw someone once saying they are putting it into a 240sx, and i didn't know if it would be a better deal than an SR20DET. Plus, I was also curious, how strong is a SR20DE motor compared to the DET motor, other than the turbo. Lets say you put an SR20DE motor in the 240, and just get a turbo from a DET and all the other necesary parts to make it work correctly.

what is the stock HP rating on that motor. I'm checking around, and I can't seem to find any specs on it. Plus, what would be more worth the money, a SR20DET or a CA18DET for and S13 swap.

CA18DET came in the '88-'90 Silvia and 180sx in it's RWD form. HP rating was around 175. The CA vs. SR question is hard to answer. They're both better and worse than each other in different ways so it's all personal taste. And to answer your other question the SR20DE and DET are the same minus to turbo and compression ratio. As for it being worth swapping a SR20DE...I'd say no they're harder to get so they will usually cost more.

so if i turbocharged a sr20de motor, i would have to take it apart and change the compression ratio? so i might as well just put a SR20DET in instead. I heard the CA18DET can give a higher top end power than the SR.

No the SR can make more. The CA can rev higher though.

you could also use a thicker head gasket on the sr20de motor to lower the cr ratio. a good temporary solution untill you up the boost.
use det fuel injectors, too
