Wheel sizes.

I'm building my car for drifting, and Auto-X, and was wondering what size wheels everyone thinks are better for those two purposes. I want to use a pair of 15x8.5's in front, and 16'9.5's in the rear. What do you guys think?

Yeah, I don't care about looks. I just thought 16's would be better on the rear, since the cars RWD, if that makes any sense. But fugg, I don't know

From what I see you would want the smaller rims on the rear. They will help you break traction for drift.

Autox stick to all the same size.

well bigger tires in the rear are good for increased traction, therefore less traction loss in drifiting, but you can still break them loose, because they break 18's in Japan. So I would go would the increase traction.

Little difference in engines over there bro. They make the power to break the traction. I don't think many of us are there yet.

U really don't need power to break the tires though, all you need is a technique and you can break it any how you want. I know I can go fully sideway without pulling the e-brake and just slutch techniques, so its not about the power, its all about the skill

I wanna see you break your rear out and keep momentum with a set of 18s and sticky rubber.

Even with the KA24E, and a set of Goodrich radial T/A's, I can still lose traction going about 25mph into a turn. But like, Import Fanatix said, it's all about the technique. Anyways, for drifting I'm just going to keep my stock tires, but once my engine is built up, and I start doing more Auto-X, I think I'll go with 15x9's all around. Next question, who in the hell makes 15x9's in our lug pattern?

So I take it you have broken traction on with those tires mounted on 18" wheels?

I agreed with that point that you can break traction. The point I am making is do you have the power (or do you use technique?) to break traction and keep the motion of the drift going with sticky tires mounted on 18" wheels.

Not trying to be a hammerhead I just want to hear someone say yeah I do it with my 18"s and sticky rubber all the time. It is one thing to say yeah I think I can and another to be the one doing so.

I don't have 18's, I'm still rolling on the stock wheels . I know damn well that with a stock ka24e, i'm not going to break a set of 18's with some decent tires. Plus I would never buy 18's so I'm not worried about that. The biggest wheel I would ever go with is a 16in.

Good to see we agree on one point. That is the point I am pushing.

You never know you might want the bling bling stylie.

LOL, if I was going to go bling bling style I wouldn't ride on any sissy 18's, I'd roll on some DUBS.

I don't know I was taking deep dish 18" as an intro into Bling Bling 101.
