Tein HE vs JIC Magic FLT-A2
#2
JIC's are slightly more. both have about the same levels of adjustment for compression and rebound( 15 vs. 16). High spring rates, 8k/6k for both. both no matter how soft you had the shock set would be quite a bit harder ride than stock.

thanx B2119, i'm used to the harder ride, i have a 97 civic 2dr thats 3.5" spring drop, okay back to the 240sx ^_^ i'm planning to get used jdm coilover and wasn't sure, i might end up getting the JIC since this one guy is offering it to me cheaper than the Tein HE

I have always liked JIC, from quality and fit and finish. But i have also heard good things about Tein. If you are dealing directly witht the company, i say buy from whichever has better customer service. If you are buying them used, then buy whichever you get a better deal on.

Here's what I've heard. HEARD.
TEIN USA uses different springs than the TEIN in Japan, and the springs aren't as reliable etc.
But then, HE is 8k front 6k rear, while FLT-A1 is 7k front 5k rear.
HE is 16-way adjustable, while FLT-A1 is only 5-way adjustable.
I've heard of more problems such as sagging and squeeking from HE than I have from FLT-A1, but that's probably because more people have HE.
It's weird because I'm in this same exact situation right now. But I'm leaning more towards JIC for some reason.

email Tein with a bunch of questions and see what happens - usually they reply within 24 hours, really thorough too. I've bombarded them with emails and yet they answered each one promptly.
I tried emailing JIC and I didnt get a response (this was like 4 months ago LOL)
Also, if you're buying used and something happens, Tein does repairs in the USA - people say they ship out to Japan, but they actually have the facilities here to fix/revalve/whatever. For sure JIC sends stuff to Japan - if they don't just tell you to buy a new one first.
Well that's my opinion, but it's all from experience (the Tein part)
