Steering Vibration/Firewall Flex

Steering Vibration/Firewall Flex
Whats up guys, I dont think I have posted here before but I have a problem I was hoping you could help me with. My steering feels really sloppy and loose and the steering wheel considerably shakes/vibrates at anything above 55. Also just recently whenever I brake my car makes a small crunching noise it kind of sounds like the firewall could be flexing. Do you have any idea what could be causing either of these porbs and how to fix them? Thanks..

You might want to get a major alignment job, that can be causing the problem. As for that vcrunching noise...I dont think it could be the firewall flexing, has to do something with suspension or brakes. Have you checked your brakes?

i think its your tie rods... my tie rod ends are worn and theres alot of shimmy in the front tires, so thats probably why there is vibrations in ur steering wheel
fix: New and beefy tie rods and tie rod ends!
i dont know what can cause the pop sound.... or crunch....could it be his...dah i can't figure out that word.....err....that thing on the top of your struts/springs you replace them w/ chamber plates...dah...when anyways....that..

my 240 has the same vibrating problem and it pops and crunches ... it's definately a tierod problem.
Does it pop when you go over bumps ... brake suddenly.... ect. ?

I say tie rods too. Try this: jack up the front of your car, lock the steering wheel, then try to move the front wheels forward and back. Also, check the tie rod bushing - if it looks all gunky or dry, you have found a common problem inherent to all 240's
