hey import

when that caliper was frozen did it grind alot while you/she was rollin off the brakes? thats what my car does now.

plus on my front driver wheel there is RUST dust. not bake dust. you can hear it rubbin/grindin all the time.

what ya'll think?/

when it starts to grind man, thats definitely no good. That means that the caliper has no more brake to press and is pressing and grinding the rotor. VERY DANGEROUS. Get some pads man.

make sure the car is not pulling to one side when you brake too or you might also have a frozen caliper along with no brake pads.

i got ebc greenstuff. not installed but even while its just rollin there is this grindind noise. i'm goin to throw on some new rotors with the greenstuff anyway. no point in wasting good pads.

frozen caliper

If the problem is that you can't push the piston back into the caliper to make room for the new pads, the solution is you have to SCREW it in. Use needlenose plyers in the slots on either side of the piston and turn it (CCW, I think) and it will retract. (hint, spray some WD-40 under the piston seal to avoid twisting the seal up.)

thats what i had heard-CCW
once the new pads, rotors, and calipers get here i'll bang em out.

what if i uncork the bleed valve..that should help get that piston in right? cuz since i'm changin calipers i'm gona be bleedin lines anyway.

for the rear they sell a tool to turn the rears in and for the fronts use a c-clamp to turn the piston in.

I just did the rears on my '94 and you don't need to open the bleed valve, just turn the piston back in. The system really isn't under any pressure unless the pedal is depressed.

well, not really preasurized. you know about the whole positive displacement thing.
actually now it don't matter cuz new front rotors and calipers are on the way.
