I think it's broke...

More of a comic title. It is broke.

At first it was lifters tapping, so I fixed that problem. Then I could easily hear what you hear in the video.

I thought it was something to do with the timing chain, or tensioner. Although the timing chain wasn't loose at all. I've heard a lot of people having weird noises because of the tensioner. So I put a new one in and it still did this. I checked the guides and there isn't any wear on them, so it doesn't seem like a timing chain issue to me. Almost sounds like a rod bearing...just seeing if some more knowledgeable people could maybe give me some input...

Oil pan is fine. I'm saying screw it and I'm just going to pull the motor and build it. I'm going to stop screwing around with it and just do it. It'll take a while but oh well. I'll update this when other modifications are done and the motor actually comes out.

kinda sounds like a lifter but hard to tell through a camera.

Sounds like the valve train, check all the Shims and make sure they are there

Rod knock is usually quiet at idle and more noticeable when reved

This tick is too quick for Rod knock

I still haven't got the motor out. I did drop the oil pan (just the addon piece, not the whole thing) and checked the first set of rod bearings and it had no wear on it at all. I checked all of the valvetrain and it's perfect. So I have the motor left in the car and the whole front end taken off so I can do some relocating of the radiator and intercooler then I'll pull the motor and worry about it then. I've got plenty of time, to take my time, and I'm going to just build it the way I should have in the first place.. the way I want it.

Thought I would update this. Tore down the motor the other day and this is what I found...bent rod cylinder 4

Bearing actually weren't all that bad. one the lower rod bearing on the 4th cylinder had an copper showing. All the other bearing had hardly any wear tear on them.

They were perfectly fine. Not exactly sure how this happened. I know it wasn't the only should you are/were hearing in the video. The pressure plate was all sorts of warped and may/probably was contributing to some of the sounds in the video.

I'm selling it all, well motor wise. It's going or it'll become a coffee table, depending on if I can sell it or not. It's up in the for sell section now. I'm going to locate something else to put in it, not an SR/CA, something larger...no not an LS1, I'm going to keep it in the family lol. Not 100% sure on what yet. I'm keeping my options open for the new few weeks until I have enough money to order a new motor. Still waiting to hear back from the place I got my SR to see if they can get an RB25 and how much...still no word though.
