PROJECT WOLFPACK (DGibb Build Plan w/Pics)

I bought this car a couple of months ago for $1,000 dollars. I come from the world of Hondas. I dabbed into the import scene starting about three years ago. My first car I purchased was a 1999 Milano Red Integra 5-speed. I built this car for mild show and mild go. Basic bolt-ons. The main goal was just a daily driver that looked and sounded good.

Quick pic:

Nothing fast, nothing flashy, just good ol' OEM Type-R parts. Lots of recognition and a few carshows under her belt. Unfortunatly after being laid off my job and then lack of finding work, I had to sell her.

Fast forward. I always wanted a 240sx. Yea I got sucked into the whole RWD Import Fad. So what? (lol) However Im not really into drifting, other than watching it for purely entertainment purposes. My goal is good power with exellent road handling characteristics. I still plan to retain that OEM factory look, meaning a pignose conversion w/lip and 180sx Type X spoiler. Other than a new paintjob and some wheels, thats it for the exterior.

Ready for the tin-can? Time to see the challenges ahead of me:

Severe driver side, door, rocker and rear-quarter panel damage.

Now for the famous SE hatch dilema...

Check out this pimpin' interior. The only thing I added where the harness belts because the electric seatbelt went out. Nissan would not cover it because of the damage to the car. Before I get yelled at, yes I know the way the belts are bolted in it is COMPLETELY NOT SAFE. NO ONE SHOULD RIG THEIR HARNESS BELTS THIS WAY. I had to choose the lesser of two evils till I can get around to correcting the issue, no belt, or light safety.

Some ratty fart can that came on the car... (rofl check out the angle of the muffler)

Ahh, tax return time soon. You wont recognize this car after march. Luckily I have a good buddy with experience ranging from engine rebuilds to welding. I will be rebuilding the KA with a rebuild kit from Nissan (OEM baby) plus its going to get some machine shop loving.

So, with tax return drawing closer, time to start scooping up some parts on a car thats quickly becoming rare as it is.

Every gearheads favorite "store" to shop at:

Ahh, what do we have here?

Meh... nothing useful for a fastback on this thing...

Time to keep searching...

Ahh, score! See the missing hatch and door? Yea more pics on that later! Check out the interior, hmmm not to shabby, definatly some salvagable parts, nothing a little Meguiars cant cure. Now check out the rocker panel and quarter panel. Rocker panel is gold. Rear quarter panel is banged up slightly, however it is MUCH more managable than the one on my car. The one on my car has no hope of being fixed.

Lets search a little more...

Uh... nothing on this one really...

Keep on truckin'

Score again! Rear quarter panel is in even BETTER condition than the red one. Oh whats that? Pignose w/lip.

Wallet damage so far:

$100 Hatch (zero holes)
$75 Door (plus manual conversion)
$200 Rocker Panel & Quarter Panel (cut and removed for me)
$60 Pignose w/lip.
$50 Headlight Assemblies (everything)
$100 Entire Black Interior

Some pics so far:

In process of still picking up parts. Need to borrow a truck from the family.

looking at your car gave me bad memories. she looks exactly like my 91 does. i got t-boned. my damage was a lot worst. the body shop guy said that the car was totaled because of how much frame work would be required. is your frame messed up? where are you at that has like 10 240's in the junk yard. this is the second state i've owned a 240 in and finding a 240 in the junk yard is like winning the lottery. both would be awesome and i haven't done either.

Unfortunatly this particular salvage yard will not sell entire cars.

However since Im converting to manual windows in the near future I might have some electrical guts for those of you wanting to convert to electric windows.

Edit: And to answer someone elses question, the frame is good to go, just shell damage.

Bye bye heatshield!

looks like a pretty big project there. Good luck with it =)

FYI there is no "pignose conversion" - it's stock for 1989-1990 model year cars... unless you are going backward from a 1991-1994 model.

I know.

91-94 to 89-90 = converting, right?

That 240 is going to need a lot of work, good luck.

I've never seen so many 240s in one junkyard before.
