Pearl Paint

I have a 1993 240sx SE hatchback with a pearl white paint job. When I bought the car the previous owner had put a bra on the front end. When I went to remove the bra I found the paint underneath was yellow. I have been told that pearl paints are yellow when sprayed and it will become normal in the sunlight. Is this true?

Never heard that. Pearl paints are the regular color in normal lighting, and the color of the pearl in direct sunlight. If that makes sense at all

I thought it was pretty wierd myself (hence the post). But I'm giving it a try anyway to see if it helps. Its not like its costing me a dime. And I can't think of anything else that would give it the yellow look. Note it isn't so much yellow, as there is just a yellow hue over the paint.

its just the lack of oxidation/ sunlight, any finish will look different when covered for extensive periods of time.

I had the same thing happen on my white S14. I'm just going to let it sun out as much as possible, and if that doesn't help I'm just going to respray the car.

After the car has been out for about a week in Wenatchee's 100+ weather, the yellow has almost completely faded away.

My yellowish tint has completely faded as well. I just left it in the sun for a week.

Another reason not to buy a bra for a car.
