New 1982 280zx Project

Yeah I know, not a 240, but the Older sister of the 240!

Anyways, my friend got hold of this 1982 280z for $300. with 222000 miles, runs great, just a few rusted spots that have been fixed a little.

I ripped out all the interior, except for the dash and the kick panels covering the ECU and Fuse block!

Soon the tape deck player, AC/Heat, and a few other items, will be removed also.

I sprayed it last night, jet black. I think the paint job looks decent, for someone who has never used a paint gun before. I need to go back and do a few touch ups here and there.

No performance mods yet, well it does have a after market intake and spark plug wires, and a 10" or 12" Electric fan (removed clutch fan), thats it that I can think of.

so here are the pictures... As always with me, just click on the thumbnail for a larger 800x600 image!

When we get more done to it, I'll post it up as usual!!!

Enjoy!!!

actually its a S13, but I'll let it slide, this time. LOL Its doing fine, I took care of the coolant leak, finally. I still need to get it inspected, so its just sitting right now. I REALLY REALLY want to drive it, slide it, anything with it right now. I just don't want to take a chance of getting a ticket for the inspection being out.

Anyways, we have plans for the 280, but I'm not sure what my friend wants to do with it.

if we do a motor swap, I'm going to try to keep the motor thats inside now, and build that motor up, and get another 280 and drop it inside that one. But who knows what will happen!

Were deciding between multiple engines right now.

1) Turbo the L28E (Stock motor)- 222000 miles, strong motor, but old, Parts expensive, and hard to find
2) Chevy small block 350- American Muscle (I Guess), strong, parts easy to find and inexpensive
3) 1JZ Supra motor- Expensive motor, after market support strong, parts expensive as crap. (We have a 1JZ bottom end, all we need is the head, oil pans, and all the accessories, wiring harness, ecu, etc.)
4) S13 SR20DET- very common swap (for many cars), parts cheap and very easy to find, after market support strong.

Was going to do a poll, but I can't seem to find it now.

So help a friend out and help us decide on what motor we should do.

Just list the number and the motor in your post. (Ex. 3) 1JZ Supra motor)

BTW, does anyone know anyone is is trying to sell a 1JZ or 2JZ Head??? Let me know!

I'm not 100% sure for anything about the car yet.

I did sand the body down and paint it, but thats it, so far.

No, no jumps. it does look good.

We did find out that it shoots up to a 6"-12" flame from the exhuast. seriously, we started noticing that people were staying far off the rear, and a few friends was coming over to my house to pick me up, and thats when they found out it shoots flames. LOL

anyways, if I find out more about it, I will post it!
