God I remember when I worked at a hobby shop ... that stuff would go like fire. "Transparent Candy Apple Red" is the actual color, by Testors, and it'll run you about $2.50 per spraycan. 1 can is enough for the whole thing (about 3-4 thin coats) but get 2 just in case you don't like the result of just 4 coats. As for clearcoat, you're better off using some exterior-type stuff from an auto parts store; all model paints will fade in the sun and from the elements.

By "making popcorn" do you mean that it feels notchy when you shift? I used a trick that I discovered when I installed a short shift in my last car (200SX SE-R): plain standard automotive grease. Where the pivot ball is, you can kill the "click" noise and somewhat adjust the stiffness of the shifter depending on how much grease you jam around that pivot. With my C's, I just stuffed the area around the pivot with grease, closed the assembly, wiped off the excess, then test drove it to get the feel. I personally prefer a little "notchy" feel (mentally tells me I'm in gear for sure) so I ended up taking some grease back out.

i mean.. when i rev hard in any gear.. it rattles hard.. an up and down motion.. and i like the way it clicks.. only if it was a little louder it'd be great.. but yeah.. thats what im experiencing with mine.. you have any insight on B&M short shifters besides being so damn expensive??

Wow I know a couple guys with OBX... they seem to be okay. Um... the only thing I could think off this late (early?) in the morning is that I remember there's a small spacer that you drop into the "hole" before you put the shortshift lever in. It looks like a metal collar.

Here's what I followed to install my C's: http://www.zilvia.net/installs/obxss/doc.asp

The collar I'm referring to is in the 5th picture. I'm thinking if that piece isn't there, it'll definitely give you the "popcorn maker" effect.

As for the C's in my car, I couldn't ask for anything better. B&M I've heard is the best available since supposedly C's doesn't make the short shifters anymore, but I got lucky on mine - I found a shop in Northridge that had one sitting in the verk back of their warehouse collecting dust

i put that little plastic cup thing around the bottom of the shifter to go into the hole.. all it did was rub on the bottom of the area of where it sits.. grinded it down to the metal of the shifter.. now it doesnt work anymore.. i tried putting like a rubber washer type thing but it came off.. now its lost sumwhere in the tranny.. i dont think it would do any damage.. would it??
