FMIC, BOV, radiator and Water pump all done. Water pump really, REALLY sucked. There was a significant amount of oil in the intercooler pipes, though. Why? Check it out.

Three things came about though (besides bumper not fitting quite right yet)
1.) Lost almost an entire psi (11 down to 10 on in-car gauge) - but that was expected
2.) Need fans on ALL the time cuz there is no more air going to the radiator
3.) BOV seems to be working double-time now. Makes noise at times it never used to, like at cruising speed and letting off.

Also, I hooked up the Tach. Man this car revs slow!! I need a flywheel and fast so I can get the clutch in too. It idles at 2100 rpms too. Which seems high to me

I'm saving up for the front upgrade (need about $450.00 to do it all properly) but lately I have been falling behind on bills so that may not happen for a while.

Also, in the picture below, the blue hose connects two open lines that were on the motor. the left one spews oil onto the motor. Does anyone know where these are SUPPOSED to be connected?

Oh, guess what ya'll??

4thousand-ish miles, 5 months of driving, and a 5 month park, and I all of a sudden have a blown head gasket. Or warped head. If the head is warped I'm gonna sell. I have a 1.2mm Cometic on the way but this is gonna take the most of July out of me. Anyone ever rip one of these motors apart and have some advice?

Where was it done? I'm in Upstate NY. I was planning on having the head planed to make up for the increased thickness of the 1.2mm multi-layer Cometic I bought (OEM is .8mm).

Any other suggestions for what I should replace once I have the head off?

Okay. So yesterday and today I spent about 6 or 7 hours total ripping the top of the motor off. Got the turbo off (left it attached to the exhaust - it will be easier to take the manifold off once the head's off), the valve covers, the cams (unneccesarily, I later found out), timing belt (which has a slight tear in it - more money $$ to spend) and all the plugs/coil packs/vacuum lines/fuel lines/plugs etc. I also took the wheels off and replaced them with the stockers. Who konws how long this thing will be outta comission.

Got the 14 head bolts out and tried getting the head off. It wouldn't budge. So after further inspection, I found there are 3 more bolts (see where I'm going with this?) next to the spark plugs in cylinders 2, 4 & 5. All the 14 bolts and these 3 bolts have Allen key holes, not bolt-type 6-point socket stuff. WELL.....those 3 bastards are either seized or I should have used an impact. Didn't think about the impact because the first 14 came loose with some serious leverage and some elbow grease. So needless to say all 3 are now rounded out after a couple feeble attempts at breaking them free.

So I'm thinking Eazy-Outs are in order but I may have to drill the bolt out completely to the point I where there is no serious substance left to them and pull the head off then.

...*sigh*...
