does maco do good paint jbs

i plan on getting my car repainted and i was wondering if Maco was a good place. I planed on sanding my car down myself and applying primer myself. I would only use Maco for the actual painting.

Any info will suffice

yea, I got my paint job at maaco....if your keeping your budget tight its worth it..I paid $400, my car only had one dent. if it had more, it would have cost a little more. alot of friends were telling me not to do it...saying paint jobs should cost at least 1500 etc, but ive been getting nothing but compliments so far. I had mismatched colors before, at least now everything matches. not bad at all for an 89 car. I would say it came out decent.

How were they with the tape job? I know I have seen many cars with overspray. Exhausts painted the color of the car and the rubber gaskets also matching.

hmm....well honestly some parts were oversprayed. Such as the key hole, windshield washer, gas tank, thats about it really. My Exhaust didnt get any paint. Thing is you have to be a little fussy before they do the job, not get on their nerves but let them know clearly how you want your car to be done.

stay away from maaco...you get what you pay for. they use cheap *** paint that will fade and flake in a year not to mention they only paint what is visible. they arent concerned with painting under the bumpers or in doorstops anything like that. my friends 67 stang was painted by maaco and it was a pos job. you could see the old paint under the bumper...again, you get what you pay for

i think the paint will look good for a few months... then its gonna start acting up if u leave it under the sun etc... ie chipping peeling discoloring.... but whatever floats your boat... its better than saving up 1500-2000 for a paint job... and living in ny sucks ... people gonna hit your car regardless....

get a real shop to do it. get a shop that will take all the moldings off, all the windows out, and paint it correctly. i would rather pay a few thousand for a paint job that will last and get the right kind of attention, than pay for a $400 one that will leave me pissed off in a year

i guess it is which maaco you take it to. nismo240se's car came out pretty decent for the price. It all depends on the maaco, but I've heard horrible things and some decent things. Is it worth chance? that i can't answer.
