Coupe with removable top

I have a 1990 coupe and I have seen a few pics on here where people have chopped the roof off. I was wondering if anyone has done that who could walk me through it or if anyone had any ideas on how to make it removable where you can snap it on and take it off similar to a Del Sol. Thanks.

You sure you havn't just seen convertible 240s (as in 1994 models). I have seen pics of a 240 that had a "targa?" top on it like a del sol, it looked ok.

And btw I'm also at NCSU

intersting concept...may i ask why?...just out of curiosity, because that would just kill the rigidity...much like how the convertible flexes like crazy, also i dont think anybody has made the roof able to clip on again...you can be the first.

There are like 3 pics of the car, about 3/4 down the page. I don't see anyway for the roof to go back on. Also, adding a rollcage would help retain the rigidity and give the top something to strap to.

you mean like this? on a coupe?...but on a coupe?...interesting concept...go for it...i cant offer you any help...a few ideas would be to cut up a MR2, Supra, firebird and use their T top assemblies as something for the roof panels to latch on to...

that would definately take a lot of effort and skill... it wouldnt "kill" the rigidity, but i would suggest putting in a roll cage

T-top hatch...I've considered that for a long time. That looks so sweet. I don't feel like cuttin up my baby though. I like her rigid and firm. Makes me double think it though....
