Building a SCCA Autox car (ST class)

I've built both a H22 engine, and a high powered KA24de. Threw a rod through the H22 and lost compression in 2 cylinders in the KA24de the aluminum crank pulley was suspect for both engines. I only recomend harmonic dampeners, and in most cases the stock crank pulley is fine unless your making WHP achievements of 70WHP or greater from stock.
Dyno tested~ aluminum crank pulleys only show a gain of about 1.5 whp on an eddy dyno which means it really isn't doing enough to the longevity that is lost. Most high HP figures you see from companies like unorthodox racing tweak there dyno's and usually use a dyno jet which will show inaccurate HP numbers usually higher than what it is in a real world application. HUGE waste of money, if you ask me.

If you want light weight inertia chromoly or aluminum flywheel is the way to go with the best results and it improves MPG, and performance.

I'd love to do a flywheel, but it's not allowed in my class

Why not just move to a different class then? at this time it sounds more like you just want to stay in the class that you are in so you don't get your A$$ kicked in the other classes, and quite frankly it sounds like the class your in is a headache. With the aluminum flywheel its like shaving .3 seconds off the quarter mile. Car accelerates so much faster, and the responce in and out of turns is amazing.

I totally agree, I have driven a 240 where the only difference between it and my car was a flywheel, and there was a noticeable improvement in response and acceleration. However I like the class I am in, and don't mind building a car to spec, so I'm going to stay in Street Touring for now, but some day I my move up to Street Prepared and get a few more mods and the flywheel. Either that or buy a different track car

Ok thanks guys, I can't do a AEM EMS though because unfortunately standalones are illegal in my class, put I'll keep looking for a some one reliable for a tune.
As far as the underdrive pulley, I spoke with Jason and another 240 owner and neither one of them ever had any issues with the pulley, even after a couple years years of tracking their cars.

I know AEM EMS isn't allowed I'm just showing you what a tune can do. Are you OBD-1 or OBD-2?
Nistune has a OBD-1 board for the eCU and Techno Tuning can do OBD-2 ECU's

Alright guys, back again. Sorry but I've been busy making wedding plans, if you don't know the story read it here: https://www.s-chassis.com/forums/off-topic-22/so-i-got-engaged-46936/
Anyway, no pics or video this time, sorry, but all the camera were pointed at my engagement on the track.
There is good news though! I think I finally broke the plateau! I think my problem was rather simple, I am simply not pushing the car hard enough. As you know I installed those KW coilovers back in Oct, and I think they can handle much more speed in the turns than I am giving them. I think running the car on stock shocks for so long scared me away from really pushing the car, and now I have to re-teach myself. The proof? I have been scoring ~900 all season, this event I scored a 925 with a raw time of 45.904, 2nd in class out of 7, 33rd out of 98 overall. I am going to keep really pushing the car and learn her new limits now that I am starring down the neck of 1st place. To get 1st will be a huge achievement in itself though, as he is a national caliber driver in the fully built "spec/cheater" car of ST class (a 1990 Civic Si).
The headers and ECU tune are still in the works for the car, been waiting on my tax return still, I called the IRS HQ about it, apparently for some reason the housing tax credit thing is taking FOREVER. But as soon as it comes in I'll be ordering parts to build my own ST legal header and then make my final decision about the ECU tune.
