the car can start and run even if it is gear... bad idea if you have air bags... clifford and compustar make units that work with manual transmissions with a bunc of safety features that wont allow it to start if you do not set it up right... a good shop will install a relay that will bypass the clutch switch only when remote starting... look out for a shop that will just bypass it all together... above all else if you own a manual trans with remote start get in the habbit of never parking in gear i mean never even if you are not going to use the remote start... never in gear just in case...
