No problem Paul Walker. Your last few posts definitely demonstrated that regardless of your claims, you are being a punk. LOL

Snow comment wasn't me. Go drive in snow all you want, who cares.

Look harder the "edit" and "reply" button is there. look at all your previous posts. "edit" and "reply" button is there. click on "edit", and you'll see a "delete" button for double posts.

If you can't even see those buttons, try learning how to use the forums properly before you go about trying to start **** about unrelated subjects.

just to clear up any confusion... my friend works at pep boys, and installed clifford, matrix, and viper alarm systems with the remote start... and all on manual vehicles. they work fine... it can be done.. just try not to use your remote start if your e-brake is wearing down and you're parked on a hill.. that's all there is to it!

Try looking into a CompuStar alarm/start. Thats what I put on my car, and it is designed with manuals in mind, so you cant leave the car without putting the car in neutral and setting the ebrake. Also, to safely override the clutch, you use a relay wired up to the clutch switch, and tie it into the wire that tells the car to start. That way, the starter can bypass the clutch, but you still cant start the car with the key without pressing the clutch in. Just my two cents.

I'm interested in knowing how they check for the car being in neutral. Other than wiring a bunch of microswitches to the shift linkage mechanically, what other way is there? I know that my car doesn't have any accomodation for signalling that the transmission is in gear electronically i.e. somewhere where you can patch a wire to detect transmission position... I figure that Compustar must be a custom install for the transmission "detection" part.

As for clutch override and ebrake checking, that can be done with any car as both have some sort of OEM sensor attached to it.

Don't our trannies know when it's in 5th or 4th gear since there's the fuel cutoff in both those gears.

true, but that's only 2 gears... reverse you can tie into the reverse light circuit, but what about 1st, 2nd, and 3rd?

They don't necessarily check if your car is in neutral, but they have an ebrake wire like everything else. When you put your ebrake on, it either grounds or send a trigger. This is what the brain detects. What the system does is when you park your car, you put the car in neutral, and engage the ebrake. You turn the car off, and it stays running until you shut the door. Then the car arms itself, and goes into "reservation mode". If you open the door before you start it again, then the car won't start because there would have been a chance to put the car in gear. This can also be a pain in the ***, because if you forget something in your car, you have to start it, disengage the brake, and redo everything over to get your car to start with the remote. So in the end, its kind of a hassle, but a safe way to do it.

It sounds way more complicated than it really is, but O well. I live in North Dakota, so it is real damn cold in the morning when you need to go start your car and let it run for 10 mins. LOL.
