If the install allows it to fit with out any fabing, it is defenitely a engine mounting problem.
You may also want to check the serial NO. You may have the 95-98 pacesetter header, there are clearance issue's between the s13 and s14 KA24de pacesetter headers.
After doing further research. I am going to purchase the pacesetter exhaust system. For the price it will give me the added performance I need, it isn't to much louder than oem, I get a 1/4" more of exhaust pipe, and I can have it for under $220.00 total on ebay.
When the exhaust system goes in next month I am going to run straight 21/4" pipe where the catalytic goes. That way only at smog testing I will reinstall it. HAHA a cooler running engine with an extra 10donkey's at the wheels Kick A#%.
Pig Fuc#$ers will mostly pull people over and site a ticket if they can prove you have an exhaust with no muffler. To the "law's" concern if you have a muffler that runs straight pipe through it, it is not considered a muffler. Little ***** piggy's do this stupid visual test where they put a flashlight to look as far down the exhaust as possible. If they can look through your muffler more than 3" from the begining of the muffler tip you will get a fatty retarded ticket.
The pacesetter exhaust system passes all the recomended visual test by the state of Cali.

As long as you are still using a stock oem catalitic converter, there is no top of the line anything when it comes to exhaust. Until I see dyno charts I will stick with "The BOO BOO" pacesetter 21/4 exhaust.

Biggest bang for your buck. OBX exhaust header, it's cheaper than DC sports and if you don't live in Cali it will work great. Then I would pick up the random Technology (50 State street legal) high flow CAT, you can purchase it through STILLEN.com, you might be able to find it somewhere for cheaper. If you dont want to get to loud I would keep your pipe at 21/4 with the pacesetter CAT back exhaust for $220.00, or if you want to break some bread you can purchase the Greddy SP cat back exhaust 21/2 for $600.00, it is a noise compliant exhaust system for high performance.
You will get about 15HP at the wheels and with added engine mods possibly more.
