Oh yea, the silencers... those should help out with the noise a bit... I read the dual is pretty good if you have a KA, but plan on an SR in the future and don't wanna have to upgrade the exhaust right away after the swap. I dream of an SR, but I dunno if I'll ever have the $$... til then, I'd like to have a freer-breathing KA.

I currently have the N1 single installed on my '96. There is a definite drone when going about 80mph (~3000rpm). It gets a bit louder in the upper rev ranges. I think it is a bit loud but other people listening outside the car have told me that it is really not bad. It totally doesnt have that (forgive me honda fans, if any) Civic "fart" sound. The apexi N1 dual is definitely louder. I dont know about the Dual but the Single is meant to fit the JDM silvia with the SR20DET. It has all 3" piping, so i dont think that an upgrade after a swap would be necessary. By the way, while your thinkin about a cat-back, look into a cold air intake. You will loose a bit of torque with the exhaust alone, but the CAI will bring some back.

^thanks...thats basically what ive heard...but i thought the duals were quieter cuz the tubing was smaller?? anyhow, i dont think ill be gettin em cuz of cost...a friend of mine is sellin a system he had...its an OBX B3 muffler with custom 2.25" piping...im gettin it for $175...probably a better choice for my N/A KA anyways...as for the intake, i am gettin one (AEM short ram)...im pretty much all set...

Sounds like a good deal for $175... I rode in an s13 with a N1 dual last night and I didn't think it was too loud... forgot to ask if he had the silencers in, but I doubt it. It was loud on full throttle, but not too much for me. And it was decent just driving around.
BTW, with the CAI, are those still a problem if you live in a wet area? I remember hearing a couple years back that they weren't a good idea if you lived in a place with a lot of rain 'cause it could suck the water right up into the intake. If that's too big a risk, I'll just get a normal intake.

Ok, to correct myself. By cold air intake I meant the short ram type. I agree that in a wet climate (Like here in Chicago) the cold air extension will soak your mass air sensor. I have been using a short ram intake (AEM) and have had no problems with water, even with the entire stock air box removed (that box stuffed behind the driving lights too).

i bought a BOMZ N1 style muffler it should be in tomorrow . i had one on my old car and it was a deep tone sounded awesome but dont know how it would sound on a 240 but when i get mine on i will let u know how it sounds

Yea, I remember a company had a 'valve' of some sort that would detect water, and then close off the cold air extention or something.... AEM, huh.... I'd be curious if it really worked! 'cause it does rain a bit up here in Washington. Like today; good reason to get the car sideways (although not always on purpose....)
and Super, I don't want to sound like a jackass, but what's a "BOMZ N1 style" muffler? Does that mean it's not Apexi? and is it just a muffler, not cat-back? Please enlighten me

The "valve" is called an air bypass valve by AEM. It has a foam filter and underneath are spring loaded flaps that open when there is too much vaccum at the filter. I.e. when there it gets drenched by water or is just dirty. It gets installed by cutting the cold air intake and splicing it in, hopefully before the mass air sensor.
If you get an intake that places the filter roughly where the old intake box (short ram) was you won't have a problem with water. I have driven in heavy rain at highway speeds and found the filter dry as a bone. In this case the bypass valve is a waste of money. I have seen it installed in a Civic and a Qualude (prelude) with a short ram and it has never opened.
