New Member (Type X 180)

Finally, a decent 240sx web site.

Hi,

Im a new member and thought i would let you all know about my car. I live in Australia and drive a 1996 180x Type X. This comes standard with RPS13 lights and interior (velour, digital odo, airbag, abs, digital climate)

Other features of my car include

HKS Exhaust (Super Drager)
Lowered Springs
Aftermarket front bar
Alpine CD Deck
Sony Amp
2x10" Alpine VR Subs.

The car boasts a beefy SR20DE Engine, soon to be turbo upgraded (when finances comply)

I am yet to get it Dynoed or taken down the quarter mile, but will do soon. I have other big plans for the car, but i will let you know as i do them.

Have a look at it at www.cardomain.com/id/blobon.

Congrads on finding the site and welcome.

I have a question for you. Do you have any links to Australian import mags? I have heard they tailor the the 180/240 more than the american mags.

Thanks

Well I had a reply here, but let me reply again.

Welcome to the club. Hope you can inform us American's with the swap and what to look for in the sr motors. I see you have some nice mods there and hope you can enlighten us with some information in which we may be misled on, i.e., JDM products or what goes bad, etc.

Once again, welcome and hope you enjoy the stay.

Hate to dissapoint you fellas but most of that stuff is stock on the 96 models, including the tail lights.

The only non stock stuff there is the front bar and exhaust, which was already on there when i bought the car. The only things i have done myself so far is the stereo upgrade.

However, if you want some aus magazine sites try

http://www.hot4s.com.au and http://www.fastfours.com.au

sorry i cant be any more help.

Nope,

Australia doesnt have a local 180sx, but if you look up on some websites, they started making non turbo 180sx's in the second half of 96.

I didnt think they made them either, until I saw mine.

Let me retract that last statement.

I have just found out that my car is Type S, not Type X. I apologise.

In my opinion I would never have bought the car if I knew it was non-turbo. Even if it was some rare, special non-turbo. Its still just that... non-turbo

Unfortunately, being under 25, insurance isnt as easy to come by when u have a turbo car. besides which, that was the first of its kind on the streets where i live, and you cant get non turbo's imported anymore. this means i have a rare model.

as for the front bar, im not sure. im pretty certain that the type s and type x had the same front end, so i dont think it is a standard one. ive been trying to see what it is. there are some BN sports ones that look the same but none exactly the same.

Hey don't knock the man's ride....

If you've ever been to Australia you would be surprised....they are fortunate enuff to get some of the good cars imported from Japan. Also some of the coolest people I know live down under.

An RPS13 NA down in OZ is a rare car.

And it's not as if dropping an SR20DET in place of the DE is difficult....much easier than replacing the KA24E or DE...

Congrats on the 180.

Got a 94 Type R (same as a Type X, but no round tails and a little older.) Dug it out of a junkyard for $1700 USD and after $80 (water pump) had her running.

Not sure what that front bar is either....Not stock at all....

Car is clean as hell though....NA or not...nice ride.

not too sure. i know the sr20de is quicker than the ka24e, not sure about the ka24de

the sr20de generates 119KW at the engine stock.
