Hello all! Hopefully soon to be 240 owner

Hello there,
I am currently looking into a 1990 Nissan 240SX Hatchback Project car..and when I say project car, I mean it! Haha. Lots of work but that is exactly what me and my friend are looking for and it seemed to hit me right in the face as I was driving to work. $500 so I can't really say no, me and my friend just gotta agree upon it and gotta crap out some bills to buy it.

A little about us. My name is Kyle and I currently drive a very modded 2005 Hyundai Tiburon GT, little rice in a bit of all of us (I got lambo doors), bodykit, wheels, interior mods, some performance..etc

My friend's name is Chris and is more of a muscle guy; go figure we will be building a drifter. He has been a good friend of mine for years and we always talked about building a project car so here we are! He drives a 1994 Chrevolet Caprice LT1 (Impala SS clone)

We have a thing about ricers, particularly Honda's because we know a few who own them and they claim their JDM's go Supa Fast! So, we decided to call this hopeful project, Project Supa Fast! Yes, it is gay but thats besides the point.

I now have a serious question. The car's headlights motors are biffed, and so are the headlights themselves. I saw this picture here...

And I haven't been able to find those headlights. I have found other ones with the Halo's that are bubbly/rounded but they remind me too much of Integra, I like the simplistic look these go for so any help is appreciated.

Thanks and glad to be apart of Club 240! Hope I can soon enough show some pictures of this Project Supa Fast.

Awe, that really sucks but what can you do ..those were really the only appealing headlights to me, I don't like the flip ups nor do I really want to replace the motor and all of it for the headlights. Somebody get me a pair!

Oh BTW, I also participate in my Tiburon forum over at www.newtiburon.com

UPDATE:
I went looking and found these:
http://www.raceonusa.com/index.asp?P...OD&ProdID=1325

Any information on these? I am kind of confused how the headlight covers stay in place as there is no screw area's on them and also, how the heck do the lights stay in place since you can use a wide variety of light bulbs. Would you need to do a cob job kinda thing with like zip ties and such or what? I like the price of $159.00

I found those similar headlights to the first ones I posted here:
http://www.takakaira.com/asp/templat...UuQrRrmoNplsOn

and it says $1,229!! Holy crap!

Welcome to the forums. The first ones are not eastbear headlights, they are the Abflug lights, which as far as I know, are also out of production. The raceonusa ones are knockoff "Supermade" headlights, I'm not too sure how they stay in place, I'd imagine it may take a little work to make them fit.

thank you very much for such information. Now in the Tiburon world, normally knockoffs are very bad quality but it seems these aren't that bad. Should I be worried about getting a knock off. I know the saying, Get what you pay for but is it really worth buying the real product for $200 you think?

I don't know anyone that has purchased the Supermade knockoff from them. I would be wary though, because like you said, knockoffs usually mean quality is very bad. Also, with the Supermade or Supermade style conversion, the lighting output is horrible for daily driving, they are also illegal to use, don't know if that matters, just something to kick around your head a bit.

Well the thing is the car will be used mainly as a show car but also as basically a weekend driver. We have plans to make it a car in the 350+rWHP range. Project show car basically..I don't think they care to check headlights for inspection correct? I know they do taillights, do they do headlights because yes, then I guess that would be a problem but the description says that I can just buy the housing and use a wide range of different types of headlight bulbs/lamps so wouldn't that solve the whole output problem as I can use any type that would fit.

Also, why are they illegal I wonder? I am only going to buy the housing I think and install my own type of bulb in the housing that fits good and is bright, most likely a type of HID's.

They will be illegal due to 99.9% of people who purchase them use lights that are not dot approved, or use some type of fog light, which is in no way meant to be used as a headlight. The problem with HID's is, that they will suck as well unless you retrofit them in someway, just using an aftermarket HID makes for horrible output and cutoff (You'll have to talk to Silviaks2nr about this one, lighting and HID's are his specialty lol). However, if you are only using the vehicle for shows, or occasional daytime driving, I don't see it being that much of a problem. As for the inspection thing, AFAIK they only check to make sure your highs and lows work, at least thats how it is around here.

yea the grimlights are $1229, but they are the real deal. If you want to spend one tenth the price, expect one tenth the product! BUYER BEWARE

Yeah I understand but it would make sense if it was my daily driver but I really don't need high powerful perfect headlights if I am just gonna be using it during daytime correct? Just to let you know my Tiburon as seen in my signature I built up over a course of 1 year and still paying it off, I am currently 17, graduating this year so this project car is on a 3 year goal. I would really like to find someone with the RaceOnUSA's cuz if their decent, that's all I need.

Thanks for the input though, but $1,300 could go to other better uses (aka Performance) .. sadly

We decided that we are going to go a different route with the whole front end thing; we're going to do a S15 Conversion to the front end

Anyone know much about it as in difficulty level? I have a bodyshop guy who is up for the task, some people say dont drive the car with the conversion because its flimsey.. is that true? I mean, it will only be a show car but I would like to drive it to these shows

Good luck with the car. As far as the s15 front end, check out the style section, Yoshi has done an awesome write up with pics for the conversion on an s13. People who tell you not to drive the car are trailor queens and fail, drive it and love it.

Thank you for the information about Yoshi's write up..Very helpful. Now in it he says watch out for cheap kits, now there are a few out there for the $1,900 + S/H, would that be decent you say? I mean, headlights are headlights and such so I don't know, I guess I should contact Yoshi and see what he thinks

Thanks
