240sx newbie on da scene
Sup every one. I finally got my first 90 240sx se. LOl it took me a long time.
Can some 1 care to give me the break down of 240's. Lol it is like a foreign language to me. As far as I know 240sx's /w the SOHC 140hp 155tq (KA24DE) are in the 89-90 240sx's. Fastbacks in japan are known as 180sx while the coupes are s-13's. 91-94 is when DOHC came out (156hp 160tq). 95-96= s14's /w same engines as the 91-94's.
My question is this: Living in CA. where smog rules suck and cops are a$$##les swapping the sr20det engine would be out of the question since I won't be able to pass smog or visual from cops.
My car seems to be a lot slower than its DOHC counter part. Would it be beneficial to swap my SOHC to a DOHC? Or should I just keep my engine and build it up n/a? I love the way the fastbacks look and was considering trying out drifting than drag racing. I want something that not only looks good but has ***** to back it up when ever someone comes creeping along side of me.
I know I can do a search on this on the forums, but I am just lazy... lol Help out a noob...

lol dam omg.. neva seen so much disrespect on a newbie like this b 4.. not even with hondas.. I always loved the 240sx when it first came out before it got mainstream but couldn't get my hand on one until now considering it is very rare to find one in good shape.
If you aint got nothing helpful to say than don't say it at all...!!
First off, I did try looking for a FAQ's on SOHC vs DOHC n I came up empty...
Secondly, this is a newbie section in which people suppose to help each other. It is not meant to be sarcastic n be rude about it.
Thirdly, my first impression about this community so far

Welcome to the forums
this is actually one of the nicest forums I have ever been on, we just like to emphasize using the search button because alot of people ask the same questions over and over again and it gets very repetative...Hang around, try and have some fun, and remember, the search button is your friend
