should I or should'nt I

Well im the guy that just got the 89 kaE last week, and I was planning on building the ka and wanting to make it a beast, but one of the guys that work at my shop, has a sr20det american version in his sentra. Hes telling me that im being stupid and im not going to get anywhere with my ka after putting loads of money into it, and its making me think.

I dont really want to go to the sr but its not like i have all taht much money to put into the ka in the first place, how much money do you guys think i should get ready to spend on the ka if i want a good power gain n/a, and if i can turbo the kaE, is it safe and what kinda numbers would i be dealing with, dont know if my questions really make sense but i want to make my project ka go far, but i want to plan first, and im sure theres plenty of guys here that have the experience.

One more questions dealing with removing the clutch damper on the car, i know people said it makes the clutch feel more "direct" but what does that mean?, its more stiff it doesnt have as much free play int he pedal? Quick explanation please.

Thanks AGAIN in advance.

well, do some searching , tons of posts about this.

Your buddy is wrong. If you go Ka-T (turbo KA) you will actually make MORE power, with less money(then it would take to do SR swap).

This is because, you have to SWAP the SR, then you have to BUILD the SR. The swap isn't cheap, nor is getting the parts.

www.ka-t.org
Check it out! Type in KA-T into google.

like Cape said, KA buildup is slightly cheaper and the sky's the limit if you turbo it (well, lemme just throw a number out there 500hp~ I dunno if you plan on ever having more than that...). Figure on spending at least $2k for the parts and to set it up. $2k-$3k and you should be all set. Ka N/A buildup can be done, but your buddy is right in that respect... it's rarely been done and it is expensive unless you do the work yourself and do lots of research on how to go about it. Removing the clutch dampener makes the pedal feel more stiff and you'll get a better feel for the engage point.

Your friend is an idiot that rides on JDM ****. You can let him join this forum and debate with me otherwise. If you don't know how to swap an SR then you have to pay a mechanic. Total for swap and sr is relatively $4200.
Rebuilt KAE or KADE from atarco $1200, plus your basic bolt ons to turbo charge including turbo $2700, for the cheaper aftermarket parts. Total $3900.
Plus the KA has bigger displacement, that means less boosting to achieve bigger numbers than sr. Your friend is an idiot.

i would tell the guy at work to swap his sr20de for a det and then tell me how his pocket feels... i say build the ka... just cus he says ur stoopid for doing it... i build em because i can and i would rather have parts today to fix my car instead of waiting till next week or next month...
