Angry rough idle, black smoke

91 ka24de, i have a lot of upgrades, but a week ago i got a nx wet kit put on. i keep on getting a intake back fire, but not every time. i dont know if thats part of the problem or not. but after only running the 35 shot one night, the next morning the car had a really bad idle, and blows out black smoke. its burning really rich. i noticed that the o2 was unpluged so i replaced it with a new one. looked at the spark plugs and my #4 cylinder spark plug was fried, replaced it, still no change. replaced the distributer cap and rotor button before the nx kit. i think my oil smells a little like gas, but i dont know if that was the vaulve treatment i put in. no engine lights are on. i know the car is getting to much fuel. could the timing gone out of wack. the timing chain is noisey. also the car always had a very small hesitation very 3 seconds a part when a would go up a steap hill.

Have you done a compression or leak down test?
By the sounds of it you may have dropped a cylinder. May be time to rip it apart & rering it.

What was the compression like before the N20 install. What is it after?

they did a compression test on it when they insalled the nx, to try to find out why it was back firing out the intake and they said that it was good, 150 in everyone. and i just went out side to test the ecu anyway and it gave me a code 21 witch is ignition signal in the primary circuit is not being enterd to the ecu during cranking or turning. then after getting the code i tried to start it and it wouldnt turn at all. just some clicking under the hood. then the egi. fuse started making a nosie so i had to unplug it to make it stop. does this have to do with the main problem?

im not positive, but i think it might be a distributor problem. because of the nx backfiring in the intake, witch means its not all burning, the small hesitation, super bad idle, the 21 code, and i tried a timing light before it stoped running, and for some reason the light did not come on. so i think my distibutor is bad. would that cause it to run rich? i did aslo get a msd put on at the same time as the nx kit. the car wont turn at all now. not even the starter makes noise. just a clicking for a electric part under the hood. please help

ok i just went outside to see what the clicking was and its the starter, i was told that its probely the bendix on the starter, so thats not related to the main problem

They did a test when they instaled it. How about now, after you had the problem?

Take out the starter & have it bench tested. It may have just stuck, then it may need to be replaced.
Get it cranking over & then do a compression test.

take off the negetive battery cable and hold the brakes for 1-2mins then reconnect the battery cable and drive you car..(id recomend driving it liek u stole it so your ecu will relearn the maps for maximum performance)

hmm... too bad i dont live in some deserted area... driving it like i stole it really isnt very easy... ill have to disconnect it and reset while i go do a parts run later this month... oh and btw... the problem with my 240 was the damned cruise control cable... the plastic part where it connects near the washer motor popped out and caused the throttle body to be ever so slightly open all the time, makin my idle like 1800
