I dont plan on going turbo, but i want the engine to be strong enough to handle a turbo just incase i deside to get forsed induction.

I dont plan to do the work my self, because i dont know how to do engine internals. I just want to buy all the parts and when i have everything i need im gona go to a shop and let them do everything.

BigVinnie you seem to know alot about ka24de's so can you help me out and tell me what i need? I know about the basic pistons/springs/rods stuff, but is there anything else?

Thnx in advance.

Wow, that rpm website has realy cheap parts. I looked at the ka24de crankshaft and its 261$, is this true or am i not seeing something?

Yeah those top line kits are suitable enough to work just as good as stock OEM. There is a down side...... There not made of forged chromoly steel, and are your basic shot peened which means it wont exceed over 380RWHP...... The ring lands are just as weak as the stock OEM which means that if you decide to go boosted, you can infact shorten the life expectancy of your engine greatly.

On the other hand I would go and search for good qaulity pistons with thicker ring lands. You can go with the Wiseco brand, which is a great product and there name has been backed for years.
Or you can get pistons with thick ring lands that were designed for NOS and Turbo charging (The Super Techs). Which in my opinion are the biggest bang for your buck in FI applications. Personally I'm getting the super techs incase I chose to do NOS, I'm getting them in the 10.5:1 compression and I plan to drop the CR to 10.1:1 using a thicker gasket to keep the engine smogable, and still have an added kick of power.

If you don't plan on making alot of power on turbo charging you can go with the stock oem rods, many KA guy's have boosted to 18PSI at about 386RWHP without blowing the ringlands or rods (but I wouldn't recomend something like that as a daily driver).

If you are going to do the build up do it right look into some chromoly forged rods crower,ROSS, or eagle, it will be a wise investment.

If you plan to go boosted play it safe and order some titanium retainers and springs. Most people associate titanium retainers and springs as a safety precation for high rev...... Well that is some what true, if you know you want to boost alot you are going to want to make sure that the valvetrain is reliable, so I would defenitely invest into some titanium retainers and springs.
Super tech and JUN make the retainers and springs for the KA.

It's fine if you have a shop do the work just make shure it is a reliable one. If you pay more than $2000 for a rebuild you are getting shysted. Technically for all parts and labor from a shop should cost roughly $3400 (if you chose to go with great quality internals that I mentioned.

Technically you could do the build yourself save the money to turbo charge, it is about a week long project as long as you follow the FSM, and take your time to get it done right the first time. When it comes to engine building there are NO second chances, you can blow an engine within 500miles if it isn't built properlly ( when i was super NOOB I actually wasted some good engines and parts).

Things that I didn't mention that I didn't know if you would want are an EMS upgrade, and a good cam swap, if you are going to do the build do it right the first time and get some performance cams, and an EMS tune to compliment it. That should run you up almost your 5grand, (well that is atleast if you have the shop do it).....

Someone has studied the desing and excellent technology incorporated into 240's and finally found out that one. He has to be the only person in the world that can be that smart check it out
