Are you sure it's water pump? There could be air trapped in the radiator passages.

Just asking before you spend $ on something you don't need yet.

didn't you say in the other thread you dropped an engine into your STI.... and you don't know how to replace a water pump, or diagnose a over heating problem?

im not attacking, just seems really weird.

drain the coolant, remove fan shroud and fan if u need the space, take off belts and other stuff, then the unbolt the water pump
its pretty self explanatory once u get in there if u know anything about anything

o yea and dont forget to get some silicone sealant to put on the new water pump so it wont have any leaks

good luck and maybe some other people can clear up things i left out with the labor stuff if i forgot anything

no need to remove the radiator just drain the fluid...remove fan shroud...my shroud had 4 10 mm bolts and came off in 4 sections with these stoopid little push clips... take off the fan... 4 10 mm nuts...loosen the belt on the water pump and power steering pump... (same belt on my car)...5 10 mm or is it 12mm (cant remember) bolts hold the water pump in place... remove the bolts and pull on the pump... it will come off pretty easy... take a gasket scraper (or razor blade - single sided just in case you need to know that) and remove any old silicone from the timing chain cover where the old pump was... clean it good and then clean it again... you can get a new water pump gasket but nissan techs just use rtv silicone on the pump... small bead is all that is needed... not too much or it will ooz into the water passages or out onto the timing chain cover... put the water pump back into place and tighten the bolts to 12 foot pounds (so they say) or just tighten them till they are pretty tight... remember you are bolting it into aluminum so too tight will strip the bolt holes... let the silicone sit for 30 min befor filling the cooling system... good time to put the fan back on and tighten up the water pump belt and reinstall the fan shroud... refill the cooling system... start the motor check for leaks and purge it of air... and you are done... drive it like you stole it...watch the water temp and make sure you are not over heating...

To all those "OMG it's so JDM" people...

... realize that the 240sx was manufactured in Japan using Japanese parts and Japanese assemblers.

The whole car is JDM. Duh.
