timing

do i need to take anything apart on the engine to adjust the timing other that remove the distributor??? and is there a notch on the crank that means tdc or what? i have never really messed with a nissan motor before but seems easy enough for me to mess with. If anyone has an in depth or detailed step by step to adjust timing please let me know. Oh and what do i look for to tell that my distributor is pointing to the right place? Thanks

Do you have a timing light? If not you can rent one from AutoZone for free. Just download the FSM and it will walk you through it. And you don't remove the distributor, you just twist it.

this may help, but when i got my 90 240 inspected my mechanic flooded it really bad to were it would only turn but wouldnt start. this guy came over and pulled the coil wire off of the distributer about an inch while i started it and it started right up. he said by making the spark jump further it makes a hotter spark
