Cool Egt

guys,

i'm driving an s13 240sx with a ka24e. i was wondering what's the effect of an EGT wire unplugged (cut)? my EGT is still on the exhaust manifold but the wire connecting to it was cut..

also,

i'm having problems on my injectors, they're all leaking very bad and my radiator is causing me some headaches..does anybody have a slightly used injectors and radiator? i would love to buy them at a reasonable price.

HOY. lol

I think you're referring to the Oxygen sensor - it's a single wire metal thing that's tapped into the exhaust manifold, right?

If that wire is cut or disconnected, your fuel management is going to be off during normal driving (except for WOT). That Oxygen sensor (O2 sensor) is what the ECU uses to fine tune the fuel injection for the proper air/fuel ratio. The result of a bad or malfunctioning O2 sensor is bad fuel economy and bad air/fuel mixture.

But then again, I see you're having injector problems. You're going to want to get that fixed ASAP since it's dangerous for leaky fuel to be underneath the hood where there's a lot of hot parts that can ignite it. Then once you solve the injector problem (check the seals first) a new O2 sensor will only cost about $15 U.S. for a Bosch universal type.

I prefer mountain running and daily driving to drag nowadays. The whole "going in a straight line" is kind of boring (been there, done that with my other car).

As for the engine, it's pretty much stock KA24DE... but I've got about 2k in suspension that I'd probably enjoy more on a drive from Nueva Ecija to Baguio, than a straight 400m quick jab of the gas pedal

we'll you're right about drag being boring and besides good driving actually comes on how you take corners and the different road variations at high speed cruising..and our s-series is made for that kind of driving..have you been to japan? you mentioned about togue...

drag racing has been legalized here in cebu and honda's are doing mid 10s on the 1/4 mile. the fastest 1.6L NA here is running mid 12s (also a honda) check out www.streetracingcebu.com for more info.

i used to work in nec miyagi (northern side of japan, 4 hrs by shinkansen - bullet train) and i hanged out once with "bad boys" there driving there old school american muscle cars but of course japan's straight six's are there (GTR34-RB26DETT and Supra's-2JZ) kicking ***..there are also a lot of s13 (180SX-CA18DET/SR20DET) showing off..

MR2's, R32/33/GTR34, Porsche, Mercedes, BMW's, Ecllipse, Ferrari, Camaro, Mustang's, 300zx and 350z's are cruising the streets of cebu ordinarily nowadays but my 1989 s13 240sx is still a head turner..lol a silver gray blacktop w/ 215/45/17 tires and a 240SX vanity plate.

Not Bad to be driving the only s13 s240sx here! there are about 3 other guys driving a 180sx, 2 other s14's and a silvia.

Wow. that's a lot of cars to be on the streets. I'm happy to see something besides a Mustang or Acura/Honda. lucky you!

I'd actually say replace the O2 sensor 1st, and see if that solves your problems. (except the leaking injectors)

Anyway, good luck with it!

I disagree... leaky injectors are not only a fire hazard, but there's a loss in compression + possibly a lean condition since all of the fuel that's supposed to be injected into the cylinder isn't - thereby the ECU fuel calculations will be all wrong.

Fix those injectors ASAP.

ya, i actually replaced the o-rings and seals of all four injectors but it hasn't changed a thing..we'll i guess i have to spend $ for this one..i've been searching the net and the injectors are about $130+..is this the normal price? or i can still get it cheaper somewhere else?
