Do i need a new cat if i get a cat-back?
My exhaust rusted apart where my cat and pipe meet so now the pipe is laying in hole that's in the cat. It makes a horrilbe rattling noise but that's besides the point. I plan on getting a cat- back exhaust but will I also need a new cat or the the exhaust replace it?

I dont think its mandatory to replace tha CAT but I think it would be a good idea, especially on higher Mileage cars in which the CAT has been pummeled after years of use....
Its also good to upgrade to a "free flowing" performance CAT that should be less restrictive as the stocker but still retain its use.
(PS were in Jersey City you live, are you Filipino?)

if the cat itself is rusted then yes you need to replace it or your new exhaust will have nothing to bolt to... as suggested get a free flowing unit... your exhaust will be louder but well worth it in the breathing department...
