Current problems

Just a few problems currently. Well, its a commonly know fact that my car used fluids way to fast.. oil, and gas mostly. But right now it seams that my car will let out lots of blue smoke when I floor it when the engine is cold, and quite a bit of black smoke when its hot. (i hear it shoots out a bit of black when cold also). I'm also getting not very good gas milage from what I hear (maybe like 15mpg). I find that I use alot of oil quickly if a drive a bit on the fast side. Anyway, the car was in the shop a while back because it was running rich, I got a new fuel pressure regulator and the guy said its running fine. Dunno...just wondering if anyone here has any ideas...

thats too vague to really help you out. Model, miles?

Check yoru 02 sensor, it probably needs replacement, it's the biggest way to help your mileage.

Could well be your head gasket going bad, how much oil per oil change are you losing? Something isn't good.

Have you done a compression test?

90 with 160,000 miles

I don't think the head gasket is going bad, I haven't done compression testing. Oil change ... uh, I been maybe like 200 miles without adding oil maybe, and thats driving like a grandma. If I drive a little on the fast side I'd have to add more to it every week or so. I get about 10-15mpg... I think the engine is dying...kinda sad.. It may not be, I really dont know.

You are definitely burning oil. The only question is whether it is in the head or at the piston rings. Since you mainly see blue smoke when its cold my guess would be the head. Black smoke when hot is not so bad if you are running it hard. Definitely invest in a compression tester and remote starter. Kit costs about $50US.

Lucasoil makes a very good stop leak product. If it's valve seals this will be a temp fix.

The condition of your spark plugs is the best indicator as to what is going on inside the engine.

I hope the clicking you are hearing is the timing chain or anything above the valves in the valve train. This is normal with over 150k miles
