advanced timing
#2
never mind just had to clean the pulley a little, but now i need to know where the mark on the block is that points to the marks on the pulley. i thought i new where it was but when i checked the timing where i thought the mark was the noches on the pulley didnt line up, until i turned the dial on my timing light to 60 degreas advanced. so i must not be looking at the right mark.

- 5 degrees before TDC
- (different color) top dead center, piston #1
- 5 degrees after TDC
- 10 degrees after TDC
- 15 degrees after TDC
- 20 degrees after TDC
If you can't see the alignment pointer, it's directly below the center part of the belt connecting the power steering pump pulley to the water pump pulley (highest belt in the engine bay)

This needle is supposed to point to 20 degrees advanced. There are 6 marks on the crank, with the second mark being a different color from the rest. The marks are as follows (read from left to right):

"This needle is supposed to point to 20 degrees advanced. "
That's FSM spec for the KA24DE.

BTW if you advance it, don't expect too much of a power gain, and I assume you are ready to use premium gasoline now, right?

Well then turn the distributor more so the needle goes paset 20 degrees. Exactly where? Can't tell you, since there are no marks after 20 degrees.
