1990 with KA24DE?

I have searched, and there are a ton of statements like:
1990=KA24E
1991=KA24DE

And I agree with that. Here is my problem. We race at a local dirt oval in a Sport Compact class. Our rules states the car must be 1990 year model or older.

So someone shows up with a 240SX built in 10/1990 with a 24DE in it and says it is a 1990 - and that there were 10,000 built with that motor.

Has anyone here ever heard of anything like this. Before I call someone a cheater, I want to have my facts straight.

Thanks

There was no 1990 production cars with the KA24DE, however most of the 1991's with the DE would have been built in 1990

Thanks for the fast reply. Is there anywhere you know of where I might find a copy of the sales brochure. I have Googled it, but have not been able to locate one.

Thanks again.
