Turbo question....

autox is challenging with a 240 no matter the motor, because of the tranny gearing. First gear is way too short and second way too long. You could get a closer ratio rear end but that wouldn't be good if you use the car as a daily driver also. But as far as turbos are concerned, after owning pretty much both extremes (t25 or 500+hp capable t04) I like the t04. Even at low boost it feels stout as hell. Thankfully I'm no longer losing power after 4500 rpm like I did with the t25 also. You really don't have to worry about spool time with a ka, they will spool pretty much anything you put on them pretty quickly.

hahaha yea every event i have had... i never ever got out of second ( which is the norm for most cars. for those that don't auto-x).. pretty common.. my turbo does very very well. on the up hill sections of our courses.. i loved my setup a lot.
like Spencer said.... a t25 will choke the KA out badly

this seems like an alright place to post, well to be honest i kno 0% about 240's however i'm trying to make this my first turbo project, nothing with ridiculous numbers, i'm looking into getting a 91 240sx, i dont even kno if they come with KA motors however after reading couple posts i think i wanna go with a KA24E or KA24DE and do a t28 kit, hopefully i can hit low 14's high 13's, im from the maxima family and swaps and turbo's are not as simple as yall make it seem so help me out

all 240s S13 or S14 come with KA's... earlier S13's came with a SOHC or the KA24E, late model S13's and all S14's came with the DOHC or KA24DE... i know very little about turbos myself, but yes, in the 240 game, turbos are a dime a dozen, readily available, and relatively easy to install... from what I've been reading, you can pretty much assemble your own turbo set up for under a $1000. i think my plan is to no longer go KA-T, but go with the S14 blacktop with the Valve timing... just a simple drop in motor, lower miles than an S13 red or blacktop, slighty more expensive, but less miles for the most part, heck it's the motor that comes stock in our S14's over seas.... plenty of power over the whole range.... may upgrade the turbo and the ECU... like i said i want around 300-325 whp in my 240... no more and not much less, and from what research I've been doing, the SR can readily put that out without tearing into the block... and i would LOVE to get that S15 6 speed tranny... no more 3.5k rpm @ 85mph....

I too have the S14 Sr20, I'm planning (future... far... future) to get a bigger turbo to push around 18psi. maybe do internals, still not sure on that part...

unless you buy the nismo 6-speed in wich its a very good tranny and very strong and made for DD with occasional track days in mind but its expensive cost $4000 lol.
also i have a redtop sr got it cause i was gona upgrade and i did new turbo cams and other things you do this to a s14 sr and the s14 losses its main advantage over the s13 sr turbo and vtc. so in short you change cams and turbo in both motors and its basicly the same motor lol
