Is there anything you have to do different for the SOHC and the DOHC? I have a 89 SOHC and i was wondering if its the exact same as your writeup because i have to replace mine this week. Thanks

didn't read all the replies in the therad, but in case they weren't already stated here are some tips i've received on this subject:

pilot bearing. file the the bearing down on the edges makes tranny insertion a little easier. think concave (verbatim what durdan perfab passed along to me.)

grease points:
clutch fork pivot.
where the clutch fork meets the bearing holder.
the shaft that the throw out bearing/bearing holder sit on.

when installing the pilot bearing. coat the bearing and the crank shaft with a little oil. makes installing the new bearing much easier.

fsm states to tighten the clutch bolts in 2 stages.
first stage tighten to 14 ft lbs, then tighten to 22 ft lbs. in the criss cross fashion as stated by the op.

hih.

not rude, but its kinda annoying when someone picks through your write up...... if you think you can do it better do so.. also you should have a manual at your side too.

and as i said its common sense to someone who has done something similar

if i hurt your feelings sorry, im a fair guy, but ill tell it like it is bro

I really don't like to go back and debate minor things like this, but I do have to ask how i "picked through" your post, when the first sentence in my post was.

"didn't read all the replies in the therad, but in case they weren't already stated here are some tips i've received on this subject:"

Yeah i really tried to tear through your post.

No feelings hurt, I wouldn't of ever replied until I saw you went back and edited your post. Either way to keep the thread from going off topic reply via email. Thanks.

I just did your clutch install today just like the directions said. Everything is bolted back up like its suppose to be but the pedal wont come all the way back up like its suppose to and the car wont go into gear with the clutch pedal down. PLEASE HELP ME!!!. We are about to take the clutch dampener off to see if that will solve the problem. Thanks

na bro,,,, you have to bleed the clutch ... the first couple time you have to pick the clutch up with your foot and push it down.. after that you will build pressure and you will be able to just push it down as normal.. and yea get rid of the damper not needed.

we bled the clutch the first time. I think we did it right. Whats the proper way to bleed the clutch? We are in the process of taking the dampener off now and then we are going to bleed again. Hopefully that will fix the problem.

we did it. It works great! The only thing is that the friction point is real quick. I guess its just that it needs breaking in. Anyways. Thanks alot for he writeup. It was alot of help. If anyone ever needs to install a clutch for the 240 i will definitely refere them to this writeup. Thanks again man!

great now what you have to do is take an 14mm wrench and right above the clutch pedal, you will see an bolt.. that will allow you to adjust your pedal hieght accordingly, the way i have mine set is so that i have no play.. my clutch is pretty much on and off lol
