i could re-edit but i will add to my post. PERSONAL experience. dont be a jackass when u know little about drifting i wish i knew before driving fast and doing a nice load of damage to my car which cost me 1000 just for parts. Labor was free cause my dad is mechanic. its totally a waste of money and im sure i could have gotten something much better out of 1000 coins than trying to "catch the light.." and "drift" through the intersection the 1 minute dunt make up injury(g/f was in the car, she still upset with me..) now i think back i shouldnt even own my 240 for that stupidity. YOU!!! will learn even if you dont listen to myself and the other ones. and this is going to every single member on this club who thinks that drifting is easy. Shizzle, take it to a course i cant wait to do it this summer. Its a waste of time and possibly a life or 2, i learned the hard way and im glad it was only a sidewalk that skrewed me over and broke 1/2 my drive train crap, than a life or 2. My parents were mad but they now know im a better driver because of it. aw well sh** happends and we move on take care and drive safely

Listen to G3. The man knows what he's talking about. Hell I'm 17 and I've smashed up my 240 twice since I've had it (had it for about 9 months). I was going about 65+ down an offramp (today) and gassssed it. Lost control and hopped a curb into a clusterf*ck of small trees. I don't know what the damage is gonna cost me but it's not pretty. I'll definately need a new passenger side fender, corner + headlight, side marker, and a new bumper. This sh*t isn't going to be cheap and I hope you guys learn from my stupidity. And if you're serious about learning how to drift, take it to a track. The street is no place to LEARN how to drift as I know now. But ya know, some people never learn, myself included, and this definately won't be my last half-assed drifting attempt. I'll keep you guys posted on my next attempt and the recent damage...

I completly understand where everyone is coming form in this thread. On thing id' like to clear up though. When mentioned i didnt litterally mean "on the streets" like actual streets.
I read somewhere uptop, someone tried to drift through a intersection hoping to catch the light. I mean thats ridiculous to start off with anyway. I ment, big range parking lots (usually secluded from society) not to attract attention. Thats where i started, but i dont know where im headed.
Ive realized the impact and damage this has onto your car if not done correctly so TRACK is probebly your best pick, learn it where ur worry free of obsticles and "BMW's" haha.

Even then it's kind of dangerous, not to mention with the police around. When people get caught doing things like that, it raises the awareness in your area. I live in Virginia, and Fairfax County is right next door--it's one of the richest counties in the United States. Mom and Dad buy cars for these kids, and all they do is race them, do stupid ****, and over the years it's REALLY made a bad impression with the import scene and it's drivers. Every time I roll through FFX County, I usually get pulled over, tailed, just WHATEVER by police because they look at my car and associate it with the other *******s on the road.
Just do us all a favor and do it in a place where it's safe and LEGAL. There are a lot of stupid people out there--don't be one of them.

Haha, well I guess I'm "that guy" huh? Well the shop called me back with the damage. It's going to be $950 to fix the control arms and struts and what not. Then probably another $700 for the cosmetics. But ya know... Worse things have happened to better people so I'll move on.

No doubt, buckle up.
I've always worn my seatbelt out of habit, but I really realized how much it could protect you. I wouldn't be sitting here today had I not worn it, since I'm 99.99% sure I would've broken my neck had I not been wearing it. I think everyone would agree that you'd rather be harnessed and hanging from the seatbelt upside down than with your spinal cord broken.

Yeah, called a junkyard today about the parts I need. Should cost about $150 for parts so I can drive it again. I'm lookin' for aftermarket front bumper and fenders. Been checking out Extreme Dimensions' drift series... Any one have any recommendations or feedback on ED?

hmm... definitely not condoning drifting on the streets. however as with all things, I suppose there can be exceptions to the rule. I mean if you live in the middle-of-nowhere Texas/Arizon/Nevada or somewhere like that, and you've got big freakin' open roads with nothing but gravel or sand on either side~ then hey wtf, go nuts. (take precautions though like I mention below) I mean a lot of the Japanese drifters you see don't exactly practice exclusively on tracks. Even Keiichi himself started in the touge (although he managed to smash up his car up real good many times too) Now if you live in an urban area like NYC, then hell no don't even think about it. If you're really that set on practicing, then grab a coupla buddies some walkie-talkies and find an area with no stationary objects (maybe a curb at most, i.e. no t-poles, mailboxes, hydrants etc.) at 4 a.m. Have an extra car to bring you to the hospital if you really screw up, and don't push it too hard. Just be prepared to be in a world of **** and ready to take responsibility for your actions if something goes wrong. Growing up, being mature is really just fully realizing the consequences of your actions and taking responsibility for it. Drifting at a track does not mean **** won't happen~ it just minimizes the dangers.

got my lsd in, had to drive my dad somewhere. he was scared and pissed off when he heard all the clunking and chirping and said its dangerous blah blah going on about how the car was so much better when we first got it. but its good that he doesnt know exactly what the lsd is for , i told him its for safety at high speeds just in case i loose control. now he says he never wants to ride in my car again

18.
I have crappy rear tires so I have to keep the rear end in check all the time in the rain. I've gotten used to it trying to slide everywhere when I drive it, but I don't do it on purpose. The only times I will drift on purpose is:
1. Nobody around, especially cops
2. Wet/Raining
3. Parking lot with no poles to hit or wide road I'm familiar with
It may be fun, but I really can't afford to get a ticket.

19, my mom knows i drift and supports it but knows i only do it in parkinglots, i live in upstate ny and there are not that many drift events and when there are they cost and arm and a leg 120 i believe, i have messed up many cars doing stupid **** on the streets its really not worth it, im with cowboy turbo, if you want to do it on the roads do it safe, block off a road and do it up but just be ready to shell out money if you mess up
