sunroof rust..body work!!

If you’ve got a sunroof you might have experienced this..well if you have I could use your help..
I am wondering the different ways I could fix this problem (not body shop) im gonna do all the work to my car so any help with this would be appreciated..
1. I could grind/sand bondo and paint….but then it might crack
2. cut out the rust, take out sunroof and weld sheet metal from underneath, sand, etc. into shape

Basically im looking for suggestions on how to deal with this problem..
Thanks boys.

I would grind it down to bare metal and then use some bondo. It shouldnt crack if its done properly and you get all the rust out. If the rust goes all the way through you might have to weld.

Dude, hate to break it to you, but the whole bondo aint gonna cut it. It looked to me like it was completely through. You prolly gonna have to cut it, and mig weld some sheet metal in its place.

It all depends on how deep that rust goes. Which in your case it looks like it went all the way through. Like tommyboy said you may have to weld some sheet metal in.

on some parts it did go through and on some it didnt just starting, i believe those can still be saved, but on some the hole is already there...so thats what i thought weld, grind and make it smooth..sounds good to me

dont forget to spray a rust arresting chemicle which turns the rust into black rust that is chemicly stable and wont continue eating away at the metal. Hey im going to do some of my own body work too...
Why dont I take it to a pro you ask???

I have always been a cheap guy

well a bondo body patch from the inside would take care of it, just remove the headliner grind away at the rusted parts and the parts that are all the way through you can put a body patch on the inside and bondo over it.
