I didnt know that any engine not deemed for the us market isnt street legal. But the SR20 is in an Infiniti G20, which is/was sold in the US. Is an SR20 from an infiniti G20 illegal too even though it was in a car sold in the United States?

^nope, wasnt sold in a 240sx in the us, so the engine is legal in that car, but not a 240. Dude, there's a GIMUNGUS thread on this, do a little search.

Also, if your worried about legal ****, just find someone that knows someone that does inspections

but my friend works at the ref and one of my teachers at my shool works there and he said he works with civics all day. and they get checked all the time, an get ther stickers all the time... wit b16b and they know thats a ctr motor. you just cant have a b20 in a civic because thats from a truck or well the crv which is listed as a truck on there system. a zc iono what happen there. there should b a loop hole for that.

there should be a way to say "my engine has just blown and the only way to get a new motor is for my 240sx is to get the jdm sr20det because from japan thats all they have. im going to work for the ref to i will learn how its done!" hahahhaha

in mustang can put on gross pulluters and civics can put on type r motors then 240sx has to be able to put on sr's

ther juss has to be a way@!!!!

there is no way, SR20DET was never offered in an american car. SR will never ever ever be legal, same goes for CA18 and the RB series. Not legal, everyone will just have to get over it, no way around it.

Or you can get a 240/260/280z and go ***** out and get an RB25/26det. Not that it really matter, because the L26/28 engines that came in the z cars had higher displacement and make more power on boosting.

Those civics with JDM b16s shouldnt be passing...they are doing something wrong at that ref ...unless you use the USDM wiring harness and ECU, a Cat, and all smog equipment. Thats the only way they can pass...Ive searched this in the EK/EG forums...cause...well ive been thinking of getting myself a little hatch They can get away with GSR swaps too ive seen it done...the bastards!

Maybe there is a way that we can teach you proper grammar...

Either way, are you even sure that the inspectors you talk to check the engine codes at all? Visually, it's really hard to tell a B16A from a B16B, or a B18C from a B18C5, or B18C1. They all look the same at a glance.

If you're going to sit here and feed me bull**** about how Honda has it better, then you're better off telling me that Christmas is in July.

An Imported engine is an imported engine

SR20 is illegal, period. There is never going to be a way around it, unless they change the laws -- and seeing how gas prices are now...it's only going to get worse.

I don't want to hear anymore of this ricer B/S.
