sucks for us...

do you guys know that civic can get away wit swaps?

all u have to do is bring it to the ref and all stuff has to be workin fine... and it cost 30 dollars to get a sticker from teh bar

just got to have cat n everythin working.

because its ok for them is because those motors were offered to them from one car or another so they can take it and put it in thers.

like 92-95 civics dont have a b series any thing but a 94 delsol thers a b16a2

so they can take that motor, and use ls motors. only thing they cant use is a b20 which is consider a truck motor.

too bad for us sr20det arent in the us...

or mayb ther is a way to make legal for our car????

you have to tell the ref taht it was a motor for our car and most of them come wit turbo. and the reason for not have the stock any more is because there getting rare to find. because every 1 keeps blowing ther ka. mayb mayb it mite work. some just has to work at the ref.

im in a smog program but i dont work wit the ref

if you get taht bar sticker

you dont have to worry about gettin pulled over

luckie for cars taht already come wit turbo, kuz they get to put larger intercoolers and dont have to worry because thats not reallie a problem.

thats what i heard

like srt's, sti, evo's, and other turbo cars dont get hasseled as much

i heard that the SR engines are legal as long as they pass emission, smog, and all that stuff. I also heard that if you are going to do an engine swap, the engine you are swapping in needs to be a newer engine (or same year) as your car, in other words, you cant put an older engine in a newer car.

Not sure if its true, but thats just what I heard

What would happen if you drove your SR 240 to an inspection station and it didn't pass. Will they let you drive it home?

There is NO legal way around it, excluding MotoRex and importing companies

see funny thing is I thought about this some. In MA, in all the times I've taken a car to get an inspection sticker, I think they've actually popped the hood and looked inside the engine bay maybe like TWICE out of oh say... about twenty times (i've been driving ALL the cars in the household for their inspections) throughout the years. Yeah technically the SR IS ILLEGAL, but if they don't even check, and assuming that it passes smog, then I could probably pull some "oh I didn't know, but it still passed inspection" type of BS if I ever got caught w/the thing in there...

If you would have done your research...you would have found that all motors sold outside of the US are deemed illegal on city streets by FEDERAL LAW...SR>Sold outside of the US>Illegal...A simple search on these forums could have got you that answer...

i was just sayin... that b16a's n b16b and all those civic and integra motors are legal here all u have to do is let the ref check it for all the components r workin properly

and those motors are able to pass the sniff in socal...

just doesnt pass visual. and it did cost 30 bucks from a sticker from the bar. but not its $90

and if you dont pass they wont charge you and they will tell you what you need to pass....

i never sed taht the sr will pass

there should be away tho... like certain loop holes

because you can get r32, 33, 34 up here and be sold but cost like double the price for them

i have a friend that sells them for like 40 grand paper work done

should be away to say its a kit car or grey market car. or restored hot rod.

Thats all Bullshiat, I couldn't even get my NON vtec ZC smogged.
If the engine is from any other country and wasn't approved for use in the U.S it won't pass smog.
Example you can take a JDM KA that doesn't have corresponding USDM vins and it will pass, just because it was approved by the epa, the dynamic of the engine doesn't change so a smog ref will let it pass.
Now lets say you take an off the wall engine like the sr it won't pass AT ALL, it was never released in the U.S and the fact is it has no USDM vins, or atleast the FF SR does but it's vin is also different. So the fact is no FR sr's will pass period!
If it is a JDM engine but was replicated in the U.S and approved by the EPA and as long as it has the corresponding engine codes a reff will let it pass.
