RB26DETT or KA-T

Which motor should I get?? I wanted to do a ka-t originally keep it "Real" but then I saw a rb26DETT with tranny and everything is only 3K so thats very tempting. Im not sure how easy a RB26 swap is though. What is your guys' opinions. KA or RB??

If your talking about getting the rb26dett from japan motor import, one of our vendors, if it comes with everything it says it does on the website, you will still need more to fit it in. The one on thier site comes with the awd tranny, you would still need to get an rb25 tranny, you would probably want to use the mckinney motor mounts that are available, and if your not doing the swap yourself its probably not gonna be that cheap for wiring and everything. If I was going to go the RB route, which I think I may, I would just get the RB25DET

Couldn't you convert the 240 to AWD? If not then yeah i guess it would be smarter for the RB25. What is the power difference between a 25 and 26??

if you have the money anything is possible, but making the 240 awd will require more money than its worth to do.

heres some specs off of skylinesdownunder.com

RB25
250hp @ 6400
217ft/lbs @ 4800

RB26
278 @ 6800
271 @ 4400

the money you would save by getting the RB25, you could easily put it into some mods and have it making just as much if not more than the stock RB26

So, I guess the new question is RB25 or KA-T. Which is more bang for the buck?? Considering if i did the ka-t id have to buy a ka24de to sart with seeing as my car only has the ka24e. I'm looking to spend about 5k counting motor and mods to start with.

rb25 swap is going to like 6k plus from what ive found. ka-t is about 2-3k for a fully built motor and then another 3k for turbo setup. im in the same boat as you are, and ive found that a ka-t would probably be the best bet.

if you only have $5000 I would go with the KA, the RB is nice but will end up being pretty expensive in the end and you may end up having to spend more than that.

Yeah i figured that i can get a ka24de for around 400. that would give me 4600ish just to drop into the motor. my goal is to hit the 400-450whp mark. i know it might take a little more than 5k but thats all ill have to start out with.

i got a quote from phatka-t.com come for a fully built engine and turbo setup and the final price was over double what you have set right there. now this was for a fully ported head, valve job, turbo mani and down pipe, fuel system, EM, fully built block. this is an engine capable of over 500hp with the right turbo.
btw the turbo in this price was a gt35
