and it can be hard to find an AE86 for a good price in good shape

 

yeah i am still thinking about this 240 It is probably 2 hours away from were i live though. But my dad is finaly starting to care what i am looking at. he told me before that i cant buy anything foriegn. yet my brother has a 92' toyota pickup that my dad bought for him. kinda funny how that works isnt it?

 

make sure if ur gunna look at the rb 240, that A. it has a fairly new clutch in it, and B. find out why doesnt it have a turbo or intercooler

 

My guess it the turbo blew up, sending shrapnel into the intercooler. Maybe?

were not talking tires here so i can agree with spence Id start with something fresh. Not always a good idea to pick up someone elses project.

 

the intercooler was taken because he is building a honda and is using the int. for that. the clutch is bad.

 

he's using the RB's stock sidemount as a FMIC....wow..thats awesome

A lesson my friend up in Oregon learned. He bought this fully built KA NA S13 for 1500 and told me it was just something minor in the electrical... Needless to say, he asked me what to do since it was a horrid hack job that had wires spawning from the dash to places I've never even heard of.

bighroder, you can find a stock S13 that is in good running condition for about 1500 to 2K. Why not go that route and build later on after you get a good cash flow? Plenty of stock S13's still out there.

 

It was an aftermarket front mount intercooler, he doesnt have the stock it comes with walbro 255 piping.

Nismo knight I agree with you that there is tons of 240's around but I would assume you dont live in michigan. there isnt any 240's around and the ones you can find are rotted out.

 

i am going to have to go with nismo knight and say find a clean car and then do the swap or pay to have someone do the swap, you dont want to buy someones hack job, beilve me, i have and its not fun.

 

Actually he is right, theres certain parts of the country that see 240's as rare as an AE86. But then if you search enough, you can find one even though you would have to ship. But in some cases, shipping is dirt cheap. If I can get a car shipped from SoCal all the way up to me here in Sacramento (500 miles away) for give or take 500 bucks or less... Im sure you can find one shipped for around 3000.

 

I found one near me it is an auto though and it has HICAS. i told him that i can come look at it this weekend

 

just do a 5spd swap..no biggie

It is only 800 bucks and the tranny is actin up anyway, but it has a ka24de. Now i have to swap out the ecu to do the manuel swap right? where can i get the swap? another bas 180XXX miles, but I plan on it getting through the winter than doing a motor swap or something. that is if i get it.

 

The tranny swap is all written up in the technical section here... As for the mileage... 180K is no biggie. By buddy had an S13 that had 300+ miles and still beat Civics lol. but it ran great, until he started treating it like a brand new SR...

And for 800, DO IT! LOL
