Problems with you digital speedo/hud?READ HERE
I along with many other 240SX owners have ran into this very annoying problem. Hope this helps you people out.
My dig speedo/hud died ,then 8 months later it came on then went off for one drive( car start to car off) reminding me of my problem. I decided to finally fix it. Heres the deal.
If your digital speedo/hud does'nt work then it's the speedo head behind the dashboard. This was the problem with my 93 automatic (I wish I had it in stick). The part itself is fairly small and expensive. It will cost you around 275 to 350. I did manage to get it at dealer price of I believe around 180 (my dad works at a car dealership) Now, what the part looks like, there are 3 circuit boards set up like a hamburger, On the base circuit board there is the actual speedo screen itself that faces you on the dashboard as well as the **** that you control the km/mph, on/off with all jumbled up into one part. PART NUMBER 24821 - 54F80 (LOC # J12 68) not sure if you need this number.
some side info - If your odo is not rolling and the speed isn't registering, then it's your speed sensor located underneath the 240 next to the tranny.
wierd knowing how fast your going.

StanBo, I didn't know about that, thanks for putting it in here. I guess I got reamed but atleast the damn thing is working. I shouldn't have waited so long to fix it, I like it alot. It's the coolest feature of the dash next to chart topping center tach needed in any proper sports car.

The infamous NYC bartering system. I started it now it is taking off.
You have to come to a meet and request the part. Then someone will find you a link or someone that is changing a cluster out and wants some cash.

but the problem with buying a nother used one is that they will go out some time too, i got one off ebay for 30 with 100k on it, and after around 600miles its starting to not work, only when the cars warmed up. atleast with the new part, you know you good for a while.

I forgot to mention that the part I listed is not the actual thing that puts the image onto the window. That I believe has its own screen. The speedo head controls both displays though so along with the screen thats in the guage cluster that faces you it also feeds the speed data to the projector. Speedo head gone, both are dead.
