performance chips...

Are these popular for 240's? Coming from a BMW, a good chip would bump you up 12-15hp/15-20ft-lbs(Dinan chip ). I have been looking through some sites for 240 parts and havent noticed any. Do our cars not allow for modding the ecu by a new chip? all tuning needs to be custom?

wow.. i was looking at chips like 2 days ago!
Unfortunately they only exist for the australian KA's, which i believe have different ECU's & tuning than we do (our stock tuning is better than theirs). usually you'll see people getting a JWT (if i remember the letters right!) tuned ECU, they run from $100 up on ebay, they're getting more rare lately, ergo, more expensive... that ecu pulls the speed limiters as well as sets the rev-limiter at 7k (tho i've heard of ppl blowing up engines that aren't well maintained at this rpm)
and as the preacher above might say. put in the engine code & Google that bad boy!

you can rechip the usa ecu... takes the same process as doing a honda/acura one... you need to if you are not good with a soldering iron i would not suggest it... you have to remove the factory chip from the ecu meaning un soldering the pins on the chip... then you need to solder in a socket that you can plug a new chip into... then plug in the new chip... i sent an email to the guy in aus... seems that the ecu's are the same versions just different programs in them... the chips and the process are the samefor usa and aus models... just takes a little work...
