Octane

Octane
Was just wondering if anybody noticed any added performance using the 93 Octane gas instead of 87. I ask because on the inside of the door to the gas cap it says to use 93 to get "maximum performance". Let me know what you think.

Octane does make a diff..higher the octane the better..unless of course ur engine cant take very high octane (100+)and when u usually get to the 110 its leaded. All i can find is 91 octane around here...there is a Myth of a 76 station thats got 95 at the pump..i have yet to find it

Got to watch out tho, u put high octane and if your engine can't take it, your injectors and valves could be Done!!
I've put 100 into my COntour SVT ( high compression engine) with about 3 gal of 91 in there, ran awesome, oh and the smell from the pipes..

I was always told the higher the grade of gas the better for your car. It's better gas first off, it burns at a lower temperature and it combusts a lot easier and effeciently. I can only afford 89, but I get that because 87 is the bottom end gas for you car, and you can get really bad 87 gas that can harm your engine, so at least 89 is a bit better for your engine.
Thats what I was told

That's the way it's always been for me. I've always heard that a higher octane burns cleaner and combusts better than low grade. I started using 93 and I could tell a small difference. 93 isn't too expensive here. ATL has the cheapest gas in the country so it's not so pricey.
But....I have heard people say that if you do put higher octane in your car and the computer is set up to run on 87 than it wont run as good. But I figure, if Nissan suggests it, than why not!!

High octane is better, i was talking about racing fuel, 97+ octane. I don't know with turbo charged engines, byt with NA you need high compression ration, 10 to 1 and up in order to be safe. Racing fuel my burn your valves.
My svt has 9.5 or 10 to one. That is whay I can only run premium.
Just my 2 cents
