The shifter in my car feels very notchy (you can feel it go through each gate). I know that this is normal for the Tremec T56 that is in Camaros, Vettes, Vipers etc. Is it also normal for the 240's gearbox? Is there anything I can do to make it smoother?

 

same thing with mine too... how old is your clutch? cause i know mine on the way out and that might be it.

 

Nah, my clutch got replaced 10K ago along with the rear main seal, so that shouldn't be the problem.

I recently installed a short shifter that made my shifting very notchy, but not necessarily a "bad" notchy....I dunno if that makes sense, but what I am saying is if you bought the car with a short shifter already installed, this could be why. if not, then maybe your stock shifter is just really tight. just my $0.02

 

Yeah it is notchy even when the car is off, so it isn't internal. It must just be the way it is.

 

i got a obx shifter and wen its idling and im just shifting it or watever it feels fine but wen i start going it feels kind of notchy. is that bad??
