Here i am to save the day,...sort of....Lets first start by using basic troubleshooting steps:
1st: fuses
2nd:wiring (check to see if any shorts are happening
3rd: power, are you getting it?

I could keep going, but this isn't a class. I could already tell you have a connection problem. Fuses are used in between connections just in case there's a short/over voltage/surge in the electrical system, but lets rule all that out. This is where you need a multi-meter, because you need to check for CONNECTIVITY, then check if your getting the proper voltage. If you get connectivity then check volts. If volts are not their then you know where your problem is at. Go to the source of the power. If you do get the proper voltage to the certain area, then something is grounding your connection. hope this helps you or spark an idea.

Is there a relay for the tail lights? I might check that.
